There has to be some punishment for companies that hire illegals. But considering companies that use illegals give money to politicians...nothing is going to happen. The government is not doing anything about this issue, it's all window dressing during an election year. Companies are not getting in trouble for hiring them, this country won't go after them because it's become such a big problem to control, the border is wide open, there's not enough money to effectively guard it. The government wants to build a big fence but it's not paid for and will take decades to put together.... It's such a gigantic mess, government will not do anything about it....

Like BCB said about punishing companies that hire illegals, we cant really because most of them work on farms and stuff of that nature. Its really hard to track since they pay them cash and there arent records of any form to prosicute them with. Plus, if they dont do the work, who will? Americans are lazy and wont do it. Almost everyone that is unemployed thinks they are too good to pick vegitables and fruit for work. I really cant think of anything that can stop them. The world is becoming to global. Before too long, you wont be a US citizen, you'll be a "North American" citizen or a "European" citizen. Stuff of that nature. It'll be after we die, but thats still relativly soon in history.

I agree PJ, kind of shocking how things could change...I know for a fact that meat packing industry in the north central part of this country uses tons of illegal immigrants and regulations and checking for it are literally non-existant. (I read the book Fast-Food Nation, a great read btw).

I think making it flat out illegal for companies to hire illegals, than building a fence to make it harder for them to cross. the fence wont stop all of them but it will make it more difficult.

If we don't let companies use "cheap" and "illegal" labor, then we take a bug cutback on a ton of products that we use that are American made. Not actaully American made, but American based companies and farms. I garuntee if we made it illegal and started prosicuting companies that did it, then we would see a big hit in the American market. Not as much food and not a lot of products. The American people want all the stuff, but they don't want to work for these farms, so they have to get another source. A no win situation in my opinion.

I think the USA needs to set up some sort of agreement that if an illegal is deported the country they are sent back to punishes them.Example: An illegal alien from Mexico is deported, upoun arrival back in Mexico he is put in Jail for 6 months. This would help a ton!

no way would Mexico agree to that. Mexico makes billions off of its former citizens sending money back to Mexico.
