Director Chris Columbus and Robin Williams On Board

Fox 2000 is developing a sequel to Mrs. Doubtfire, with Chris Columbus attached to direct and Robin Williams set to reprise his role as the titular character.

Our anticipation for the film can only be described as Pierce Brosnan once uttered in the 1993 hit, “Mrs. Doubtfire, please!”

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Elf scribe David Berenbaum will pen the sequel.

Mara Wilson, the actress who played the younger daughter Natalie, spoke up on Twitter about the sequel, and indicated her lack of interest in getting involved with the film: For the record, no, I do not have anything to do with the Mrs. Doubtfire sequel, nor will I.

The original's plot follows, as the site describes, “Williams as a struggling actor and recently divorced father of three who, in order to be closer to his children, takes on the persona of a Scottish nanny, Euphegenia Doubtfire.”

The first film ended with (SPOILER ALERT) Mrs. Doubtfire hosting her (er...his?) own educational children’s program. We can only assume the sequel would follow these events.

Williams’ performance earned him a Golden Globe in the best actor in a musical/comedy category, and as a film won best comedy/musical.

The question remains -- will we get a Mrs. Featherbottom crossover?

    Now here's a 'can't miss'. Let's make a remake of a poor film.

Yeah, I don't know how this would fly in today's fucked up society. Mrs. Doubtfire wouldn't even have to hide, everyone would just have to accept that it is a woman, even if you saw her cock and balls.

Doesn't everyone want Dustin Hoffman in a Tootsie sequel first?

Maybe if it is a black comedy and he rapes some people and goes on the run from the FBI....no, would still suck.

Did IGN just put a spoiler alert in an article about a movie from 1993?

We're not talking about The Usual Suspects.
