What will happen to number eight? Will it be retired? Will Kobe get two retired numbers? With what he did in number eight I don't think anyone else should be able to wear it on the Lakers again. What do you think is gonna happen?

I'm pretty sure that they will retire both numbers.

But what will happen if he plays horribly in this new number? Will they retire one and not the other?

It depends which one he will make more of an impact with. And it's hard to follow up #8, so if he does as good as he did with 8 they might just retire both

Number 8 will be definitely retired, its going to be weird seeing him play in the 24 jersey.
