I almost scored last night but was turned away by the wife. Almost...it's not about scoring its what is perceived as not doing what it takes during the hardest part of the year. Sent from my SM-G900P using Tapatalk
Sleeps, Nash doesn't have that killer instinct. Doesn't mean he doesn't want to win, but he is not a leave it on the ice win at all costs guy. That's okay since his natural skills still make him a very good player. And it is also okay because his line is doing well right now, and I am sure a big part of that is the attention Nash draws to himself, both Dis and I have said that. But 2 goals in 21 playoff games speaks for itself. Not much spin can be put on that Sleeps. As for Hank, 3 soft goals? The guys save % is close to .930. GAA under 2. He's had at least 2 goals go in off his own players. What more do you want from him? I am crazy for saying 0 goals in this series, 2 goals in 21 career playoff games, Nash lacks a killer instinct you need in the playoffs. And here you are questioning under 2 GAA, close to .930 save %, Hank. Sounds good...LOL.
Here's the good news Pasta. Since you said we were in a huge hole, and pretty much done, I assume you won't be around for round 2, so it shouldn't be an issue I'd guess. I still cannot believe we are going 6 with the terrible awful Flyers who finished WAY behind us...with 2 less points...in the regular season...LOL.
Chuck what do you mean? I post positive stuff also. I love the fact that Torts is gone. Gabi trade was great! Klein was a good trade. I love our D's future. I like that there is no more dog house. I enjoy postgame now without Torts. There a lot of good stuff right now, I just hate super stars coming to NY.
Nicely done 2009. We are all happy now.... If we get top 3 picks like Pitt and Chicago we can build mostly from within. We do not get those picks, so we have to try and add some impact guys from the outside like Nash and MSL. What can you do.
no hard feelings, i dont consider nash playing under torts system his fault, i dont blame him for last year..... i mean cmon we all saw how av is doing way better job..... nash playing on PK, PP way better how can you fault nash for last year? Torts had a shitty Power play nash couldnt do nothing, Nash line did nothing last year and it was D D D D D D. on a fresh page in AV system im judging him now...... nash and torts was not a fit hence torts got fired.... i dont think its fair to judge last year at all...... and the CBJ vs red wings series is LOL if your counting that.... look at gabby in playoffs under torts and the post season he is having for kings, i think 3 goals one assist, i think that more in 5 games then his career in NYR in playoffs.
Okay, so 5 games 0 goals these playoffs under AV. Nash struggles in the playoffs. Hard to argue against that at the moment. I am a huge Nash fan, but the #'s are the #'s. With that said though, he does still fill a big role for us. Teams have to account for him every time he is on the ice. He opens things up for his linemates. So that is important. So I for one am happy to have Nash here, whether he is scoring goals or not. He is a presence.
ok chuck. lets see how it plays out , i will predict that if we get to round 2, or beyond. nash will finish with at least 1 PPG. if im wrong i will be your personal cheerleader *_* .
I hope you are right bro. I want Nash to score goals. I fully expect us to finish off the Flyers, and win round 2, and I am hopeful Nash will be a huge reason why. AND if we get the Pens I guarantee Nash scores some goals in that series for sure...GUARANTEED.
umm..Nash was almost a point a game player last year...so umm...you are incorrect to blame it on "torts system" Facts are when he first came to the team last year he was a beast at times until the head shot. This is not about goals or points this is the fact that he does not drive to the net or use his body to shield defensemen away from the puck, this is all about the coming down the wing and taking a shot outside the circle instead of driving to the net with one or two players drapped on his back
WHICH is interesting Al because he did that in the CBJ game. And most importantly he did that, carry guys on his back and drive to the net, at the end of game 4 against the Flyers when he was inches away from tying the game late. SO he has it in him when he wants to do it still. Maybe he is afraid to do it almost every play like he used to.
I do think he is afraid unless it is game 7 or elimination game. He wants to be in that game and saving himself to when it really matters. He probably is so playoff hungry that he does not want to miss important match.
I do think there's some validity to this theory, as he seemed to shy away from contact right before the Olympics too. Maybe he figures against the Flyers it's better to avoid their style with his injury, though any playoff series is going to be physical.
OMG. Some of the quotes here just boggle the mind. We pay almost 8 mil a year and 4 players for a "presence". He's disappeared except for kind of 1 period in any big game we've had in 2 years. He's saving it for game 7. Like games 1-6 don't matter. All we need to do is have everyone else get us to game 7 and then he'll reincarnate into Messier. He doesn't drive the net because of the concussion and shied away from contact before the Olympics. How about the 10 game stretch he became a beast after the Olympics, driving the net, doing it all, then reverting back to doing basically nothing. Where did that guy go? He almost scored twice. Wow! I think Boyle almost scored 8 times. He has 4 assists. Another wow. I remember 1 assist where Emery tried to glove a shot 2 feet wide he shouldn't have, then dropped it at the doorstep for Stepan? to tap it in. Really great play there. Didn't another one come on an empty net? It's not about stats. It's how he plays. Usually don't even know he's on the ice. There's no special d on him or a shadow. One isn't needed. He's becoming a defensive specialist lol. All I heard was beast, great player, power forward, missing link to winning a cup. It's becoming a joke. I'd love to see a hat trick tonight but sadly it will probably take others to get us the win. At this point I'd be thrilled with 1 goal, or even a top effort. Do something Nash. Hit someone, bull your way to the front, something. Pleeeease! I think we are clearly the better team and win this series, but to beat Pitt Nash is going to have to be the man. I honestly want to see him be that but nothing he's done is telling me he is that. I hate to be negative and you all know I'm not a fan of his but without him being what he is supposed to be we won't go far so I am rooting for him. It just becomes tiring hoping for the beast to come out every game, and by the middle of the 2nd knowing it's not happening. Enough with the excuses and almosts and presence. Suck it up, toughen up, and take charge already. Damn it.
I will say this right now. With Pitt's goalie and D, IF we get by Philly, Nash will score some goals in the Pitt series...he has to.
lol nyr1962 you are delusional, real talk i dont know what hockey sense are familar with but you must still think hockey is still in 70s and 80s where players score 8 goals a game....... nash is a beast, and will be shown when its all said and done... and people like you will look foolish. nash's line is playing super well but i guess it doesn't matter to you because hes not getting a hat trick every game. You need to level up your hockey IQ. I guess you rather have cally at 8mil grinding blocking shots so his "presence" is known then having a stud, typical old school hockey veteren
Nash is paid to score goals, when you pay a guy 8 million a year he needs to produce some numbers. He has had an awful year and so far is not a guy you can depend on in the playoffs to get you a big goal. 8 million dollars a year...
