...watches a grooved 1st pitch go by...strike one ...swing at 2nd pitch up in his eyes (so much for "working the count") ...now down 0-2 he does what he typically does, slaps weakly into an out or even worse, he strikes out. For his career, Gardner has a .185 BA with an 0-2 count...he strikes out way too often and that is not what you look for in a lead off batter...he should be batting 9th.
I've been saying it since the season started about him batting 9th. IMO he is just not a top of the order guy.
...a .344 OBP is not impressive either, again, especially for a leadoff guy...I mean, what freaking good does it do for him to work a walk if he's not gonna steal when he does get on base?
And just to think, Brett is our $15 million dollar man.........sick, I got to go puke. I can think of a dozen better Outfielder's the Yanks should of pursued, and DFA'd Brett before the big hold out contract. I'd of let him die on the vine....who the hell is his agent, Boras?
...matts, I was really surprised when the Yanx gave him that contract...I was sure he was going to be traded. ...2 more strike outs tonight.
...oh I understand why he's leading off, but IMO, even when Ells was leading off, Gardner should still have been batting 9th instead of 2nd.
...welcome back, Jill. ...I really wish he'd start wearing out some of these first pitch fast balls right down the middle of the plate. ...I mentioned earlier how abysmal Gardner is once he's down 0-2 in the count....take a wild guess at his career numbers on the first pitch? ...TAH DAH !.... .381 .406 .579 .985 ...are you listening Brett?
Wow, I never would of guessed. Ok-15 million dollar man, case is made, get to swinging on those first pitch strikes, you fool.......(gardner that is).... I too, couldn't believe the press release, "Gardner and Yanks come to a deal". What!!! That's not a deal, that's a thief robbing The Boys Blind. Now swing.....Brett, earn your paychecks.
