2 time 6th man of the year award winner. This guy has really turned out to have a good career and has been a very good NBA Basketball player. http://msn.foxsports.com/west/story/clippers-guard-jamal-crawford-named-sixth-man-of-year-043014 Meanwhile, the Bulls continue to search for a scoring 2 guard and figure out how on earth we can get a couple shot creators / scorers on the roster.
It's amazing to think that Crawford has had the best career of anyone in his draft class. He's always been bad at defense, but he's definitely found himself a spot in the league and has aged very well. It's incredible that after 13 years in the league he's actually better now than when he was in his physical prime.
Michael Redd was better, IMO, but he didn't last as long. If Kirk is worth $4M, then JC was easily worth the $6M he got from the Knicks. He's making $5M now, and the Bulls had the chance to sign him.
He wasn't all that when he was with us but he really blossomed and has become a damned impressive player.
Gordon > Jamal. Similar PER, PPG, etc. Gordon was a 20 PPG scorer, team leading scorer several seasons, and deadly 3pt shooter. Like >.400 to ~.350. Gordon started most of his career, so he wasn't eligible for 6MOY, tho he won one time.
It's really close. Crawford has aged much more gracefully. Gordon never had the success outside the Bulls that Crawford did.
When I talk about Jamal's career, I'm taking longevity into account. At their peaks Redd and Gordon were both better, but not so much better to give them the career edge over Jamal, who possibly had his best year ever this year.
For me, it's too early to make the call on Crawford vs Gordon career-wise. Crawford may be 34, but obviously he's still getting it done offensively. Gordon just turned 31 and it wouldn't surprise me if he's a comeback player of the year candidate next season. One good thing about comparing JCraw and Gordon is that you don't need to discuss defensive strengths and weaknesses since they're both notoriously weak on that end. In fact, although I truly hate when someone throws out players' PERs as somehow definitive, with these two it has some validity. FWIW, here's a comparison of their respective first 10 seasons LINK In terms of individual statistics, the competition between the two is remarkably close.
