Wow, just one year and Torts is out of job in Vancouver. How times change. Remember in the beginning of the season, the nucks started on fire and the rangers struggled. His daughter was taunting the rangers on twitter for firing torts and hiring AV. Karma is bitch.

wow, thats crazy...... i am no longer a fan of torts..... but thats wack... if you bring a coach in you need to give him some time to bring his type of guys and play his system.... he struggled due to not having his type of players. it wasn't a good fit. either way i think he needs a break from the nhl.

it would be interesting if he still got another coaching gig next year. i can't see that happening.

Temperella's dust up with the Flames will cost him a lot of opportunities, he's become a coach players don't want to play for.

Shame because I do think he is a solid coach. His issue is too stubborn though. Cannot bend his "system" at all. Shuts down any flow and O. Players cannot be creative. Tough system to play. A lot of discipline.

Exactly Chuck. Way too stubborn. Funny how that developed. He tried his Tampa system here at first. After a million odd man rushes against, he changed to the defensive style he now loves and refuses to change. He makes players scared to make a mistake, and always has 1 player in the doghouse for a full year. I'll be surprised if he gets another shot next year.

I can see him landing a job with the Panthers. Cant imagine him getting a job in Washington. If the caps hire him, Ovechkin will demand a trade after two games.

A team would look to bring Keenan back to the states before Torts. Forget about him not wanting to change his system. It's clear the players don't want to deal with him and you cannot behave like he does in this day and age.

Clownerella is toast. No one is hiring this disaster anytime soon.

Not next year for sure. He will get a job again in the future, but at least one year off for sure.

The league needs 'new' blood; coaches who know how
to communicate with today's athletes. The people in the
game have changed. The old army drill type-personality is out.
Yet, some hockey owner/GM will hire Torts...
down the unforseen road. Some people will never learn.

no need for kicking people when there down. torts definitely wore out his welcome here, but his ranger team worked there butts off for 4 years and the Rangers were a well respected team during his tenure. Many of the current players on this team owe there gritty style game to him. When you see that Vancouver star player ( Sedin ) only had 11 goals all year, there was no possible way that team would make the playoffs in the most difficult conference. That Vancouver team was in free fall at the end of last year. He's actually better off to be out of there, that team is about to start a long rebuilding process. He probably will have to wait a year before he has a chance to get back behind the bench, but he will, just because there's usually 6 firing per year in the NHL

Torts isnt a bad coach by any means, but he does need to take a break and do the analyst route for a year or two. His philosophy is dated and needs a complete overhaul, Torts will get a job again, probably as an assistant now.

If I were Tort's, I'd take a break and let Vancouver pay me for a couple of years. If they want to pay him to not coach, I say take them up on it ...

I think Torts will work for TSN again and stay out of coaching for awhile at least
