I feel like this series is over if the Rockets don't shit the bed in games 1 and 4. They've held big leads in the 4th in every game except game 2. They obviously know how to attack the Blazers and they've consistently done it. If they hold their leads..... this series would be over. They amazingly blew a 6pt lead in OT in game 1, although you can't really fault them when Aldridge is hitting fade away 3pters. Jeremy Lin being a dipshit cost them game 4.
I hope that's not the team's mindset. You think, if we lose game 6, they should give up?? In the past, teams have hurt themselves by saying "game 6 is must win" when it's not and then their head isn't on straight for game 7.
They should have thought Game 5 was a must win, then this whole conversation would be moot. This mindset you advocate is the same mindset that loses big leads in the middle of games. My point is that the team needs to try harder, and play with urgency, because when the games/quarters aren't must wins, they don't. We are not the better team, and will lose once Houston figures us out. Beat them before we've exhausted our bag of tricks.
We had a 4 point lead in OT of Game 3. We hold that and we sweep. Who cares that the Rockets get leads if they're gonna blow them almost every time? Getting a big lead doesn't make you the better team if you're gonna blow it. See Game 7 2000 WCF. It's not where you start, it's where you finish.
Give Blazers credit including coach/es and players for them doing this. As for game 4. Portland in the end outworked them. Or outworked them when it counted. That's why they won.
We were a Troy Daniels 3 away from sweeping this team. Not sure why people think we are in a bad spot here.
Friday night is going to be so stressful... Everyone should make sure to stay hydrated and keep a couple Valium on hand.
I don't know. I was a total wreck after game 3 but I'm fine now. I think we will win Game 6 but am completely confident we can win Game 7 if we need to. We are a mentally tough team. I went to our game in Toronto earlier this season. We had a 17 point lead in the 4th quarter. We blew the entire lead and the game went into overtime. We fell behind by three with a couple minutes left. We were on the road and Toronto had all the momentum. Lillard came down the court and drilled a three to tie the game and we ended up winning. I was REALLY impressed. Our team is tough. They don't wilt under pressure like the Rasheed teams did. We've got this.
I really wanted a sweep and we had a 4 point lead in overtime but I had to remind myself that teams usually don't sweep. The Blazer believers picked us to win in 6 at best before the series started. Now we have the chance to do just that.
I agree with the post and feel the same about game 6 and even if they don't win game 6 the best team will game 7 and that team IMO is Portland. I agree they're the more together, the more mentally though, the more balanced club. I also feel they have the superior coaching staff. Talent wise they aren't that far off if at all. But they are new at this. They are trying to find their way. This I think this is what fuzzes things up for others thinking they are the inferior team. I don't believe they are. They're learning. So let them learn.
I am still worried about a game 6. If we do lose it I feel the series is over. We came out not caring yesterday. The careless turnovers are really bothering especially when we should have came out gunning.
I agree that Houston is more talented and the refs have given them better calls the last two games. But last time I checked we were ahead. All we need is just a few more shots and passes to go our way! I know we can do it. This team can get past the first round!
