It seems that both Dallas and Miami are struggling with motivation after playing long into June. I wonder if playing this far has hurt their chances for this upcoming season. Miami is 1-2 while Dallas is 0-2. Something is up.
Dude, it's only been like not even a week into the season. I'm sure if the team is all it's made up to be they will bounce back, I mean it's 82 games to prove you team's worth.I'd be more concerned if the record was bad maybe even halfway into* the season. But that isnt the case.
Yeah it's early but it seems like the effort level isn't there. Hopefully it turns around soon and yeah there is plenty of time to do it.
No need to kneejerk mavsfan, it's only been 2 games. And you said it yourself, the Mavs were going to be a 2nd half team. They had one big loss, the Rockets one. I'm not disappointed in the Spurs loss simply because it was a competitive game that we loss due to 2-3 missed open shots within the last minute and a half. That's just how it went. It's not one you hang your head on for long. The Rockets one was just downright terrible but again, Mavs need a set rotation and a new offensive scheme. That will come with the season, and this "long" season should benefit the Mavs working their new players with the old. As for Heat, I can't say much about them. I only saw the Bulls game. But if your going to go by records right now, indicating how teams are doing. I think that's a big mistake. Let's wait a month or two before making this topic. I mean Miami had a bad first half last year and it led to a championship. Maybe their start right now is a good omen?
Season too long? Even if it is this would not be the time when they would be struggling. They would be mroe likely to start struggling after 2months or more. Thats when any fatigue remaining from the post season might actually take an effect. Also remember they were finalists last season, everyone will be gunning for them this year. But It is too early to say any of this as it is OPENING week.
I've been thinking hard about this, the NBA should be 60 games, but the NBA has been at 82 games for so long now that it would throw off stats and records. 82 is just too many and with the playoffs being so long...the season takes forever.
good point BCB. It has been this way for so long, it would throw of records and such....But I agree, the season is too long. A 48 minute game 3 or more times a week can take a tole on alot of players in the league. Although this is all basketball players do (practice and play), it is still alot to expect out of them. In baseball, they have over 160 games, but it doesn't take near as much energy out of the players than it does for basketball. And in football, their are games every week(and two bye weeks) and they only have to play 16 games. Basketball has it pretty bad compared to the other 2 major sports.
Season is too long ??? NBA season is a marathon not a sprint if it?s too long then you should be watching WNBA or NCAA (no disrespect). NBA schedule is fine as it is, let?s not think too much and just enjoy the game.
The NBA season is just fine. It is the opening week, and if the Mavs and Heat come out playing bad that doesn't mean that the season is too long, it just means they need some more inspiration to play better. They can't get Pistons syndrome and play like they are going to have evreything handed to them.
