We had no May Grays or June Gloom last year. This year, so far also. Two years ago we had no summer t all. It was all gloom. Last winter it was in the 30s at night and 50s in my house in the mornings. This past winter, I didn't have to wear long pants. Global warmingcoolingneitheritsjusttheweather
Start playing myvegas on facebook and social rewards for free comps in Vegas. Vegas pretty much has everything and it's cheap as Hell to get there
This might be out of your budget, but what about a Vacation Rental By Owner, San Juan Islands? May be hard to find a vacancy that soon away, but maybe. Or go to Sonoma County and do winetasting.
Eh, I do Hawaii cheap. Its not so bad. Then again, I'm usually on Oahu, stay in the $99 hotels in Waikiki and eat local places.
mapquest says 11-12 hrs, and $350 in gas each way. Here's a great site for magical getaways: http://www.oddinns.com/index.php/pages/treehousesinns.html
Nobody uses mapquest anymore. Googlemaps says 9 hours, 41 minutes. My personal experience (aka actually making the drive at least 2x per year for the last 12 years) says the googlemaps answer is far more accurate.
Go up into the Olympic National Forest. There are some great places to stay up there, and it is absolutely magical up there.
$350 in gas each way? What the hell type of car are you driving? I drove from San Diego to Seattle and back for Christmas. On the way up, I filled up in SD, north of LA, Sacramento and then somewhere close to the CA/OR border. That is 4 fill ups, at $60ish a pop = $240 to go over twice as far. And Map Quest? What is this, 2005?
Spoke too soon. The gray/gloom is back. I don't really mind it though. If I need sun, I'll drive 20 minutes north.
Portland to San Francisco........... 635 miles/20 miles/gal ~32 gallons of gas. Multiplied at $4/gallon = $128. So yeah..... clearly Maris is a wee bit disconnected (if that wasn't made clear by his use of mapquest).
