Which do you prefer?Structured ball (coach, drawn out plays...) or unstructured ball (like streetball or pickup games...)
Unstructured, but no too much. As long as it's not anything goes, like Arizona said. It's just more fun, I don't like having drawn out plays.
I like playing real basketball the most, ala structured. But I'll play anything. I love playing pickup games at the Y or on the blacktop, so I don't really care. But playing on a team is a great feeling, IMO. In pickup games or street ball games some guys like to play 1-on-1 and "show up" their opposition, usually resulting in people not passing the ball much. You really can't do that in a structured game because most coaches will yell at them, sit them, or tell them to stop hogging the ball.
Structured basketball is way better. Its when you have the whole anything goes, you start having ball hogs and people trying to be heros. You also have an advantage when the game is coming to an end. If its close at the end and you have no plays or anything, its just total chaos. You also play better defense when the offense is structured and you have some kind of disipline.
Structured, I like having rules. Unstructured while fun, can get out of hand sometimes, especially with certain guys you play with. Leaving people to dictate their own fouls/rules ruins a game for me.Also, forgot to add the helter skelter portion of unstructured basketball. There's too many guys who cherry pick and don't play defense.
I prefer structured, but with unstructured, you play more. Still, like Rok said, I don't like Cherry Picking and the No defense thing..
yeah in unstructured ball there are too many people who hog the ball and never pass it at all. I hate going to adult night down at the Y, those dudes all think they could have been in the nba if just given a chance. I hate those dudes. and then theres the guys that think they are good shooters taking wild 3s from the parking lot and missing like 8 in row but still shooting, I mean if you cant shoot take the ball in the lane or something stop shooting contested 25 footers!! I really hate the Y by my house. the people that play there are so stupid, crying about calls and fouls like they are gonna win an award or something for it
Unstructured... Just the basic rules like winners/losers outs, and how long the game lasts (how many points needed to win) is all I need...
I prefer playing unstructured basketball since that's what I do every weekend with my friends, but I also love playing competitive basketball, it's a whole nother thing.
I prefer doing whatever I want on the court, but I'm not for the "anything goes" streetball sh*t..So, I guess kinda both
