Carlos Beltran 4 for his last 35 with no RBI over his last 8 games. Average has gone from 307 to 245

Derek Jeter is 3 for his last 28 over his last 6 games with no RBI. Average has gone from 294 to 240

Brian McCann is 5 for his last 33 over his last 8 games with 3 RBI. Average has gone from 261 to 225

Alfonso Soriano is 6 for his last 32 over his last 8 games with 2 RBI. Average has gone from 280 to 254

CC Sabathia has given up at least 4 runs in 5 of his 7 starts (3-4) has an ERA of 5.75 and failed to reach the 7th inning in 5 of his 7 starts.

Again I know its early but this is just a dent as to what's currently wrong with the Yankees.

Beltran and McCann were brought here to hit. I loved the McCann signing but hated the Beltran signing. He is playing lazy. I also expected more out of Soriano. CC sorry to say is what I expected and I was not happy they brought back Kuroda. Hopefully those three will start to hit and I think it is time to drop Jeter in the lineup who gives a crap about his pride.

Jeter is going to be 40, Soriano is 38 and Beltran is 37. That could be the problem. Age catches up to everyone.

Its a good point. It's no secret that as you get older things slow up a little. In this case timing & getting the bat through the zone. Jeter been reduced at most to warning track power. Though never a HR hitter I'd be surprised if he hits 5 this year. And I've got no problem with that. I at least like to see that he's getting some lift on the ball & not hitting EVERYTHING on the ground, he's just hitting it (as they say) where they are & nothing is falling in.

No excuse for Beltran yesterday, I mean where the hell was he during that inside the park HR? No reason why he couldn't have gotten to that ball sooner. CC IMO is done, He's being paid like an ace (over 23M per) but he'd be nothing more then a 4th or 5th starter on any other team.

...I don't age is the problem per say. I mean we were all humping their legs a week or so ago...they didn't mysteriously become decrepit overnight.

...they simply hit a bad stretch all at once...and they will start hitting again.

Why fire Long he's collecting a pay check this year for the same reason he's been collecting a check for past years. I'll let Ron (59) tell you that reason.

Look on the bright side...by the end of this road trip they could be in the AL east basement, and then all the negative Nancy boys can be happy that they were right about this team sucking.

Negative Nancy boys? Do you really think anyone here wants to see the Yankees fail?

My assumption has been no, although some of these threads challenges the validity of that assumption.

...uhhh, why is the trainer drawing a check?...how about the pitching coach?

...for the umpteenth fucking time rick, hitting/pitching coaches etc., are simply there to help offer advice if/when needed but it's up to the PLAYER as to whether or not to apply the advice and/or batting practice drills in real game situations.
...Were you singing Long's praises a couple of weeks ago when the team was hitting well?...hell no you weren't. And why?...because the hitting coach doesn't deserve the credit for when teams are hitting well any more than he deserves the blame when they are not.

...why do we have to keep having this same f'n convo over and over again?

I said WHY fire Long? Apparently he's made enough of an impact on the players to maintain his job over the years, and I've no doubt he'll continue to be of help to the team.

    I figured it out...we can't pitch w/o pine tar,and we can't hit pitching that doesn't use it.
