<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE </div><div class='quotemain'>According to a source familiar with the Lakers' organization, the balance of power has shifted from Kobe Bryant to Phil Jackson. "The Buss family (Jeanie actually always got it) now, finally understand the organization hinges on one person, Phil, not Kobe. Don't think that wasn't the talk all summer out here, how the system wins games, not players."</div>Source: NYPost.comActually this is a pretty interesting point, and I'm curious to hear the opinions of some Laker fans regarding this issue. We all know how poorly the team did the first year after Shaq was traded, without Phil, and the difference that Phil coming back made for this team last year. So, in regards to the final sentence of the quote, do you think it's true that the Lakers' success ultimately hinges moreso on the triangle offense than it does on Kobe's brilliance? If Phil wasn't coaching this year, or didn't coach last year, how would the Lakers perform/have performed?
<span style="font-family:Tahoma">Well, obviously, with Phil, this team would have most likely not even reached the Playoffs last season. Kobe may own the team on the court, but overall, if Phil isn't around, Kobe can't own at all.</span>
I still think we would've made the playoffs because of kobe's play. Kobe was single handedly keeping us in the playoffs race. It was only when lamar and the rest emeged did we finally make sure we were there. But without phil, we wouldn't win a game against the suns.Jerry buss is very fond of kobe. Remember, kobe has a no trade clause in his contract. Only he can say he wants to leave.edit: Oh this is from NY post. It's bs then.
