Bob YoungThe Arizona RepublicNov. 7, 2006 Amare Stoudemire will start Wednesday night against Tim Duncan and the San Antonio Spurs.Suns coach Mike D'Antoni and Stoudemire said as much at the Suns' workout today."Eventually he's going to start anyway, so we might as well get going and get our rotation down and try to do what we're going to do," D'Antoni said. "We're going to try everything to get him jump-started. if he's more comfortable that way, gets some adrenaline going, then we'll try it. we're going to try everything until we hit on the right solution."Stoudemire has had mixed results in his first four games this season, but continues to be otimistic."I think the decision was something Coach D'Antoni made on his own judgment," he said. "I'm just happy to be back out there with these guys and I'm ready to get off on the right track. I think being out there with the first group is always great. I think it's going to help us as a team, just that energy and effort I try to bring."Tell you what, Tim Duncan is a great player. Playing against him my first game starting is. . . a privilege."Stoudemire underwent microfracture surgery on his left knee a year ago and played in only three games last season.http://www.azcentral.com/sports/suns/artic...nsstarters.html
Interesting. I didn't expect it this early but I think it is the smart thing to do now since he's played well so far and chemistry is the team's biggest problem at the moment. It will help him on his recovery to play with the 1st team anyway and I like the 2nd rotation with Diaw in it anyway since Banks hasn't been very good at point guard so far.
GREAT move! In order to get him more involved, this team more chemistry and to get team used to Amare they need him to play with the starters, get more touches and get maybe a few more minutes.
