I don't need to change my perspective. I don't need to believe the NBA marketing machine. Keep on sipping the Kool Aid that Silver and company feed you. Anyone can put forth a heartfelt speech, happens every day. Any venue.
If you don't think KD is one of the good guys in the NBA, you simply aren't paying attention. Ignorance is bliss.
I'm watching the speech right now on NBATV. Wow. Makes me like Durant and makes me want them to win the title if we don't. Great speech. A class act.
By all reports, he was a very good kid in PG County and the Blazers thought he had high character as well. OKC is damn lucky to have him.
Great speech. He has such a likeable attitude. Comparatively makes Jordan seem like a greedy arrogant prick. I like how Durant played flag football with college kids in the lockout and spent time with Seattle fans in the summer. One of the great personalities in sports.
Same here. And as soon as shaq left I found him entertaining again. Especially kobe tell me how my ass taste.
All this Blazer saltiness.. shit was genuine and heartfelt. Just because there probably won't be any Blazer MVPs in our remaining lifetimes..
I have zero regret about drafting Oden. 29 of the 30 NBA GMs would have done the same, with the exception being Orlando who had a center in Dwight. This wasn't a stupid move like passing on CP3 for Martell Webster. Just bad luck it didn't work out.
Yep. It wasn't like Oden was LaRue Martin. When he played, you could see what a monster he would have become with time and seasoning. The amazing thing is we NEVER saw him in 100% basketball shape. If he would have stayed healthy, he would have become the second coming of Nate Thurmond. Hindsight is 20/20. Who knew his body wasn't able to take the game?
repped I don't like the Thunder. I don't like Durant as a player (know little of him as a person except he's engaged to a WNBA player). I don't like OKC. I don't like Oklahoma. Hell, I don't even like the play Oklahoma! except the song "Many a New Day". But when Durant started tearing up recalling how his mother went without food so her children could eat, that was spoken from the heart. And he gets slammed? I guess those who insist there is no such thing as privilege also have to contend there is no such thing as lack of privilege. You know, his mom must have been some shiftless slut, or his grandpa or something. In fact she was a woman who worked very hard to raise her children under very tough circumstances, like millions of others. Her son had the luck to have size and skill and now she will never have to go hungry again.
