I tend to vote D as I am closer to their views than R, but it's bullshit that every issue has one side on the right and one on the left. The world is more complex than that. The Democrats tend to oversimplify 2nd amendment issues while the Republicans tend to oversimplify taxation issues. And then the one area that both of these damned parties agree on is over-funding our outrageous military industrial complex.

I'm not a fan of any of these sidebar candidates, but I'm getting to the point that I'll just end up voting for whatever non-two party candidate is doing the best, as some sort of a protest vote. I'm most certainly not a Libertarian, I think they have most things wrong, but it might be worth it to back one of them simply to shake up this shitty two party system. No other non D or R has a legit shot.

Preaching to the choir, but Amen! The two-party system is so outdated.

But in the end, all politicians need to check their privilege!

Until the people root big money out of the election process, things are going to continue to spiral down the toilet. Unfortunately the Supreme Court keeps going out of their way to push us further in that direction, so we are getting shittier and shittier candidates & representation. To be viable in our current system, politicians have to whore themselves out to the highest bidder. D's & R's are chasing the same dollars thereby taking their marching orders from the same masters who for the most part don't care a bit about Americans.

The biggest problem in our political system today neither party takes any responsibility and instead focuses on how bad the other party is. And everybody does it. It drives me crazy. Someone points out something a politician does or says and you immediately get people pointing out, "if you think that is bad look at what this guy did." Really? So as long as there is someone worse in a different political party it's okay what this dipshit says or does? Where is the pride in membership?

It would be like if Ford came out with a new commercial for the Mustang and all they talked about were the recalls that GM has. It would looking at yourself and deciding you're in great shape because you're not as fat as your 400lb neighbor.

I have always been somewhat conservative in my political beliefs, but that means I hold the republican party to a higher standard, not a standard that is, "hey, we're not as bad as the democrats!" What kind of bullshit is that? I don't need to hear why the democrats are bad, I need to hear why the republicans are right.

Currently we have this Moncia Wehby running for senate, lots of ad money being thrown around. And all she is saying is, "I'm going to repeal Obamacare." And? And then what? Healthcare was far from perfect before Obamacare. If you think Obamacare is not the answer then what should we replace it with? You actually think no healthcare reform is the answer? Tell me what you want to do to make things better, not what you think the other guys are doing that are bad.

Well said, and this problem persists in both parties.

There are very few exceptions, everyone spends their time pointing out flaws in others instead of trying to solve problems. I like Oregon Governor Kitzhaber, but I think he may be the only politician I can think of off hand that doesn't fall into the politician mold. On the national political side, most of the guys just point and complain. Look at the last presidential election. First in the Republican primary every last one of those candidates spent most of their time bashing. Then in the main election both Obama and Romney never spent any quality time really talking about how they were going to build a better future specifically, they instead just talked about how the other one would destroy all our hopes. I am interested in hearing Jeb Bush more because from what I have heard so far, he seems to have some solutions to discuss instead of just pointing fingers. I may not like his solutions, but at least discussing them is a step in the right direction.

    The illusion of choice.

Btw sly, the last "big idea" guy that gained any traction was Obama, and it was mostly just a bunch of lies and bullshit. Talk is cheap.
