The Detroit Lions wanted to select a receiver at the top of the NFL draft, but missed out on Sammy Watkins and Mike Evans. But that did not deter them. The Lions instead selected North Carolina tight end Eric Ebron on Thursday with the 10th overall pick in the NFL draft. Ebron joins a crowded mix at tight end, where Detroit re-signed Brandon Pettigrew this offseason and also returns Joseph Fauria. But he provides a unique skill-set as a pass-catcher. He caught 62 passes for 973 yards and four touchdowns at North Carolina, and earned second-team All-American honors last season. He could be split out in the slot, where his 6-foot-5 frame could be lethal alongside Calvin Johnson and Golden Tate. The Lions chose Ebron over other options such as Michigan OL Taylor Lewan, Notre Dame OL Zack Martin, Michigan State CB Darqueze Dennard, LSU WR Odell Beckham Jr., Pittsburgh DT Aaron Donald and Virginia Tech CB Kyle Fuller, among others. - See more at: http://www.prosportsdaily.com/artic...overall-pick-303904.html#sthash.cWsLURZm.dpuf
