Can Jimmy Garoppolo make the big jump from FCS-school Eastern Illinois to the NFL? Actually, more importantly, can he be the guy that eventually takes over for Tom Brady? New England is about to find out. The Patriots selected Garoppolo with the 30th pick in the second round (62nd overall) during the NFL Draft on Friday. And there was much rejoicing. Garoppolo will probaby enjoy playing for the Patriots because his favorite player growing up was Tom Brady. CBSSports.com senior writer Pete Prisco is a little bit baffled by the pick. The four-year starter was the fifth quarterback taken in the draft behind Blake Bortles (Jaguars), Johnny Manziel (Browns), Teddy Bridgewater (Vikings) and Derek Carr (Raiders). While the four quarterbacks above will definitely be competing for a starting job next season, Garoppolo can probably plan to spend the next two, three or four years on the bench. The biggest quarterback question in New England has nothing to do with Brady, it has to do with Ryan Mallett. Mallett's future with the Patriots is up in the air thanks to the selection of Garoppolo. - See more at: http://www.cbssports.com/nfl/eye-on...iots-select-qb-jimmy-garoppolo-with-62nd-pick
