It'll be curious to see what kind of greeting Granderson will get on Monday when the Mets come into the stadium. I think under normal circumstances he probably would have gotten a nice hand. But once he said "Any real New yorker are Mets fans" I think he'll get a rousing BOOOO.
Grandersons last season here was injury plagued and strikeout filled when he played here and will probably draw little reaction. Hughes & Jobba turned in mediocre performances as well and will probably draw little attention. The Yankees need to stomp New York National in this up coming series to make up for last years pitiful performance.
Granderson is having a good month of May and is still only hitting .187 with brutal overall numbers. I feel bad for him and playing half his games in a pitchers park isn't helping matters.
Granderson not only left the team on good terms but it also (unlike Cano) it wasn't his choice to leave so I do think the fans will act favorably towards him.
It's like what Kay said about Ellsbury. If the team doesn't offer you a contract what do the fans want the player to do? Retire?
...the QOs that both Grandy and Ellsbury were given were both "left handed" offers and were fully expected to be declined, but were made purely with hopes of at least receiving a compensatory draft pick.
