I don't think he's going to want to come here unless we still have LA and Dame, so the deal would have to center around Nic/Wes/whatever.
Didn't Lebron say he wanted to play for a winner and would take a reduced salary to do it? They should put his money where his mouth is and see what happens. Dame and LA has to be preferable to old, broken down DWade and Bosh.
Sure but he isn't going to take the 7 million or whatever we could offer. It would have to be a sign-and-trade.
I'm not suggesting LeBron would come here. I still could see him leaving the Heat. They are an aging team and are going to have to pony up some serious coin to keep Lebron and Bosh.. further limiting their ability to add role players. The NBA is in a transition period, new commissioner, the dominant teams are aging, there is a new batch of young stars up and coming. There are new teams starting to emerge. Washington and Indiana in the East, the Clippers in the West, and I think the window is opening for Portland as well.
Its kinda like when Howard was a free agent. Our team would have made TON of sense for him but we knew it would never happen.
Yup. Can you imagine if he had come here? LeBron is a big enough star though, it wouldn't hurt his brand at all to come to a place like Portland.
Yep, it's fun to talk about this stuff. It's going to be a loooong summer if they don't trade into the draft or sign any decent vets.
I like Avery Bradley but he's a RFA. I have a hard time seeing the Celtics passing on a MLE offer sheet for Bradley.
Im not sure if its a product of the team but I was surprised to see his DRtg this year was 109. In the same idea of being a product of the team Carlos Boozer had a Drtg of 98. Im not a big Boozer fan but if he brought that defensive experience maybe I guess.
I'm just thinking outside the box on this one, would the Bulls request Aldridge back in return for Joakim Noah or could we put some other package together? Say Lopez+???
Evan Turner and Nick Young would be my targets. This squad needs more scorers that can push the ball in transition and get to the line. Failing those two, I'd see if Darren Collision opts out and go after him.
With the series (especially last night's game) Nic is having, maybe - just maybe - MIA would take Nic as the principal piece: http://espn.go.com/nba/tradeMachine?tradeId=kyy3ede Still think it'd take either LMA or Lillard, though. And I'd much rather keep Lillard and have LBJ play PPF.
In make believe world where LeBron wants to come to Portland, Miami doesn't have much of a choice where he goes, much like Cleveland didn't have a choice. If he chose to leave, Miami would have to accept something in return. Getting back Nic and Wes would be better than nothing.
Before Nick Young became a free agent when he was playing for the 76ers I made a thread about going after this guy.:MARIS61::MARIS61:
I think we don't need Mo if he opts out. Save that money for either a damn good back up big or very solid defensive PG.
