Actually, the Indians would be worse because that's not even what they went by. It was a shitty name that Columbus gave to them.
http://www.outsports.com/2014/5/12/5709578/michael-sam-jerseys-selling-nfl-rookies Orders for Michael Sam's St. Louis Rams jerseys were the second-highest of any NFL rookie drafted this weekend. According to the NFL, the top-five rankings as of Monday morning include three quarterbacks, the No. 1 pick in the whole draft...and Michael Sam: 1. Johnny Manziel, Cleveland Browns 2. Michael Sam, St. Louis Rams 3. Jadeveon Clowney, Houston Texans 4. Teddy Bridgewater, Minnesota Vikings
That's funny, I was JUST talking about this very thing with a friend. Even if Sam never plays a single down, his team will more than make up for whatever they pay him in revenue. All these people who couldn't care less about football will buy his jersey, just like Jason Collins. He'll basically be a mascot.
Michael Sam needs to be a good player just so a reporter doesn't write something like this about him. You know, that he is a flameout. Whoops forgot the link http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/vault/article/magazine/MAG1194446/index.htm
Other players have parties after they're drafted and i fail to see anyone give a fuck... I can almost smell the homophobia in your post...
Most sports prognosticators had Sam going about 80 places higher and feel he slipped because teams were worried about a gay player. The prognostication took into effect size, position, college record, and yes his bad draft camp. So when Sam said he should have gone higher he is just saying what ESPN said. Hopefully that will be motivation. I would like to see the parties that straight players in the NFL and NBA throw after being drafted. Well, maybe not. But I'd like an invite to a WNBA post draft party. BTW, the boyfriend is Vito Cammisano, a Missouri swimmer. And this is why Sam being drafted matters.
