Montreal is a solid team but there's no reason the Rangers shouldn't have a very solid chance to get to the SC Finals.

I agree. This was better for us. We get pounded by the Bruins, haven't beat them in a while, and they dominated us last season in the playoffs. They just physically beat us down.

Montreal is a lot like Pitt, skilled and fast, with a better goalie. We won a game against them this season. We lost another in OT. Better matchup. Low scoring series IMO.

Not sure we win, but this is better for us. Just hope Hank is in that zone so much that even Montreal can't get him off his game.

Matchups are important for sure. Boston is just not a good matchup at all for the Rangers. Their size would've been just too much again. Montreal can surely win as well but they're a better matchup.

On the same page for sure Mess. Now we get excited for Saturday. I am really very pumped. I think we have a real shot to get this done.

I think the Canadiens are a more even matchup for the Rangers...like some of you were saying above, the Bruins are such a big and physical team, the Rangers don't have the ability to match that. Funny though that the Canadiens who are also a smaller and less physical team were able to pull it off against them. It's going to be a very intense series. Gotta watch the shots from Subban and Markov...they have some boomers on the blue line. Shot blocking is going to play a big role for sure.

Well said Greyv. And that was Boston's worst nightmare. Montreal just knows how to play them. Even though Boston was bigger and better, Montreal just loves beating the Bruins.

we'll sacrifice big bad Brian Boyle for the shot blocking.

Does anyone know what the Montreal advantage is vs Rangers
in Stanley Cup play ? My guess is ' it is huge'.

Subban..."I feel sorry for the New York Rangers coming into our
building. Oh yeah, baby." NYR need to reverse the history
between these two teams. GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO RANGERS.

You're just like Carpinello, Chuck, a naysayer. I think they win, they make it to the finals, and win there.

Lundqvist will have to carry the team, which is fine because he is the best player on the team. I also think the Kreider-Stepan-Nash will have a good series. Stepan got 2 big assists in games 6 and 7, and hit a couple posts.

would rather play boston, im a big believer in in the playoffs reg season is irrelevant, its all about momentum and how your playing now, and its very obvious boston was not playing well marchand and kreji havent scored, chara playing hurt, idk, montreal lead almost whole series,

montreal playing very good and suban playing amazing, also we cant win in montreal which we will be on the road for game 1

No worries felllas...since the smart people of the NHL and NBC thought a 1pm start time on a saturday is ratings bonanza, I will be watching game 1 via 4 hour delay, another baseball game. Rangers have a very good record when this happens
    Rangers win game #1: 4 to 2

We'll see Sleeps. To me the bottom line is we are in the ECF, Montreal or Boston was going to be a tough matchup, so pick your poison. The smaller speed/skilled team OR the bigger physical/pounding team. I think we do better against the smaller speed/skilled team, but it certainly can be debated. And again either way we were playing a very tough team. So now we just play and let the chips fall where they may.

    Excited.

The teams are 7-7 in their 14 previous playoff series. That includes a six-game victory for the Rangers in their most-recent meeting, an opening-round series in 1996 in which the Canadiens won the first two games in New York but lost the next four, including three in Montreal.

But the Habs have dominated us in regular season play.

The Canadiens have dominated the Rangers during the regular season since New York entered the NHL in 1926. Montreal is 328-189-94-3 all-time against the Rangers and has won 12 of the past 16 games between the teams.

And we have a real bad record at Montreal.

New York's 65-200-40-3 record in Montreal is its worst road mark against any of the Original Six teams, and the 1-0 win in November is the Rangers' only victory in their past 10 visits.

So this will NOT be easy, but the Bruins wouldn't have been either. Pick your poison as I said. Let's drop the puck.

agreed that it wasn't going to be easy either way, but idk something about montreal just doesn't feel right, they beat tampa easily and gave boston the DICK. Im just more concerned that we can't win in montreal since we start games 1-2 on the road being down 0-2 is not something im ready for. Being positive.......... but carey price isn't MAF . our big stars needs to shine.

I agree Sleeps. I have the same Montreal concerns as you do, and you know Price will be very good as well. This series will have a very small margin for error with few goals, so if the city of Montreal is in Hank's head or all our players heads, it is a big issue and one that would cost us the series. We agree.

I just keep replaying the Flyers series and the Pens series and I think we played better against the Pens (outside of game 4). And the Habs may be a little better than the Pens, but the Bruins are much better and deeper than the Flyers, and we lose the home ice that we had against Philly. That and the domination Boston has had over us makes me lean Montreal.
