Well I think Dirk will get his team deeper into the playoffs. But I think Garnett will have a better statistical season.
^Go in to more depth. That is an obvious assumption.But to add on to that. I think that KG is going to have a better statistical season. He got a PG in town that isn't a pass first PG, but he will take some relief of Dirk scoring wise, and it will also allow KG to not be double teamed as much this year like he has been in the past. KG has still got great footwork and post moves, his defense is good, and he is an amazing all around rebounder. He has range (obviously not as much as Dirk) but enough to make the defender have to come out on him. He is a true PF which is why I think he will be more successful. He has a less chance of being streaky, where as jumpshooters like Dirk can have on or off nights.....guys like KG are more consistent. Dirk on the other hand is a great shooter....I said above how jumpshooters can go streaky (even though he will be more consistent than most) he will still be less consistent than a guy like Duncan or KG. His rebounding and defense arent near as good, and he has so much talent on his team that his stats arent going to be as good. As for their team, I dont know what to say. They could be 0-5 after tonight and that would be an awful start. Even though I think they will snap out of it, it is still a cause for concearn. Overall, I would go with KG for having a better year but not by a whole lot. I just like his style of ball better I guess...
Dirk has a better team around him and not as much pressure to be the man every night. He has an off game or maybe gets a minor injury and needs to sit out one or two games and he has guys like Jason Terry or Josh Howard who can take some of the pressure of of him. They may have gotten off to a bad start but the season is still young and they look a lot more promising than the Wolves do.KG will start the season well statistically like he always does, but as what has happened the past two years will eventually happen: the team will struggle and all these trading KG rumors will surface and interviewers will ask him about it and what he thinks about the teams struggles and it'll wear on him. I also don't see him playing the whole season without getting some find of injury, probably to his knee again.KG will have better stats probably because he has to because the only other guy who can really take the pressure off of him in any consistent sort of way is Mike James, so KG has to be the guy and has to put up the stats for the team to even challange.Dirk will have a better YEAR because his team is just plain better and unless they slump for the rest of the season which I highly doubt they will make the playoffs again and go deep in them again.Since we all know it's a team game and not about personal stats I say Dirk has the better year.
Dirk still has to be the guy for Dallas to be successful. So far this year he hasn't been and the team is struggling big time because of it. KG is not as explosive on offense but he rebounds and defends well. He needs more help on having shooters along with players that can give him the ball in a good position.
