Meyers once went to a Justin Bieber concert in Portland and I think he liked it. Maybe he ...did. /BGD
Calling a poster a liar is a personal attack. I've been suspended for it in the past. Apparently Mediocre Man gets to play by a different set of rules, and can call other posters liars sans any punishment. Jeebus is weeping.

Not an attack if true. Like calling Obama black . You lied n another thread to make another poster look bad and got your ass handed to you. It is what it is
Is a good rebounder one who gets rebounds he should not? Or who gets a high percentage of the rebounds that he should? Or just a guy who gets a lot of rebounds? I think that it's probably the third choice in most cases, simply because quantifying the first two is really tough. Whether he played in garbage time or not, if he's pulling down a lot of rebounds, that indicates to me that he's a good rebounder. Whether we, as fans, think he's out of position or that he is a wuss because of his hair or whatever doesn't change the bottom line. Ed O.
He's 22. He is big. He can shoot. He's not even that expensive. Why would we trade him at this point? Ed O.
Cause you might trick another team into giving you a player who could actually help you in the playoffs for him
Exposing your philosophical side! How about this. If a tree dies without a witness, does it go to heaven? We used that logic with Babbitt. We waited until no team would give us anything. Leonard is still worth a late #1 at this point.
Finally Ed O with the voice of reason. Meyers certainly has a long ways to go... Most 22 yo bigs do. But he did get much better at grabbing rebounds, which means he improved at his positioning so he could grab them. His defensive rating also was much better this year than last. According to Basketball Reference, Meyers was our 2nd best Total Rebounding percentage player behind Thomas Robinson. He grabbed rebounds while he was in the game, he also ranked 2nd behind Robinson for rebounds per minute,, which means he grabbed rebounds while he was in the game. In addition he had the 2nd best defensive rating on the team behind Robinson and Aldridge who tied for best. His reb per 48 went up by 3.7 rebounds, his rebounding percentage went up by 4%, his defensive rating dropped by 5 points per 100 poss. He got better at the areas people were so critical of him for. His fg% dropped because he shot from farther away, for his career he is 80% from the line. He's 7'1" and athletic with good touch and good passing ability. Yet people hate the kid for ???
I bet you actually believe his defense got better Lol at the rebounding numbers, too. Grabbed a total of 85 rebounds this year. Insignificant number that tells you nothing. Basically he's not good. Got almost 0 minutes with no one standing in his way.
At least learn how to read stats. he had 85 rebounds... on the defensive end, overall he had 111. He showed an increase of rate of rebounding from one season to the next. You can downplay that with some mythical evaluation system you pawn off as truth but the truth is he got better at rebounding. Most centers need about 4 years before you can tell if they will be contributors or not. 2 come too mind that bounced around before landing in Portland and being quite productive for the Blazers. Joel Pzybilla and Robin Lopez. Other guys that looked terrible in their 1st couple years include Marcin Gortat and Deandre Jordan and many others. Of course the list of failures is about as long, but rarely do centers make the jump smoothly from college to Pro.
How about we apply the Popovich test to Leonard. How many minutes would Pop play him? After all many posters seem to want Stotts to be more like Pop. Well, IMHO, Pop would never, ever, ever, give Leonard a single minute.
My thinking on Leonard: I don't care for him too much as a player. But he has some set skills. He's super young. I see absolutely no reason whatsoever to dump him just because. Would not move him for cap space. Why not ride it out and see what happens. At the same time, like most guys, you get a decent offer, or if you can package him with salary, I have no qualms with moving him. Feel the same about CJ. I don't see him as a starter for us long term. I'm ok with that and would love him in a 6th man role I think he can grab. But if the right deal comes along that puts us over the top? Absolutely.
In Leonard's case, it seems to me he hasn't been coached at all. The raw ability seems to be there but what to do with that ability is missing. It is a lack of coaching or he is too damn dumb to learn. It would be kind of nice to know what up with him? If he is just dumb, why the hell did they draft the guy? Seems like coaching is missing!
some of kim hughs' big man projects include Antonio mcdyess, chris Anderson, nene, chris Kaman and deandre jordan
I started this post because I remember a lot of games where Meyers would post 1 rebound for every 3 minutes. That is my yardstick for a good center. From his game log, I noticed that he performed better per minute when he got more minutes. I agree that he doesn't have good rebounding fundamentals. But if his per minute stats are good while looking awkward and out of place, we can expect them to improve when he learns the fundamentals and gets comfortable with the NBA big man game
