Do you think that Leonard will average more than 3pts and 4reb per game when he is 26? Splitter looked pretty good for the Spurs this year. Those were his numbers at 26. I think Meyers will be better across the board by that time. San Antonio is very good at picking up other teams failures (meaning the team didn't wait long enough to let them develop) and making them decent role players. We are blessed with two very big centers now. RoLo is young and Meyers will increase his value as he gets more basketball time.
Yep I agree. Leonard should do as well as Splitter with better offensive contributions. Unless there is something wrong with the processing center.
Almost all young centers take 4 years to get comfortable and start producing. 4 years. There are a few exceptions, but not many.
Leonard improved so much his minutes were cut in half I love how his PER dropped significantly while his usage went up Go MyLe!!!
Obviously, he means that the fault is the player, not the coaching as you said, since every coach has failed with him. If you still can't understand, read Lawai'i's post. Here we are ready to get to the 3rd round. Aldridge is at his peak. He may leave in a year. But hold up on getting a good substitute center! Schilly says, let it bake till 2016-17, Leonard's 5th year! Okay, anything you say.
For me, it's not that he doesn't produce, it's that he doesn't know how to, or refuses to play defense. Meyers is a fine offensive player, and you can see that he would be a decent offensive center or really stretch 4 in time. That's not at all what we need though
He may be able to jump toward a ball, but he has no idea where he should be on defensive rotations. Leonard has no defensive awareness. We need defense from our big men. He'll be riding the pine again.
The team was better this year, and Freeland and Robinson beat him out for minutes. This thread is about his rebounding, not his PER.
I loved what Leonar_ had to say in his exit podium interview today, fwiw. He's going to split time this summer between working out with the Blazers training staff in Portland, as well as traveling to LA with RoLo to play pick-up games at the Clippers facility. I really like that RoLo is taking Meyers under his wing. RoLo sucked his first few years in the league.
I just hope he gets some coaching or else I think he's going to end up like another Maceij Lampe. Silver lining: it takes most bigs 3-4 years to develop.
I also liked what Meyers had to say. Last summer there was a lot of bitching in here about Meyers shooting three pointers after practice. This summer, Meyers seems to have gotten a clue what he's going to have to improve on to become a basketball player, and it isn't as he put it, shooting uncontested jumpers and dunking from the free throw line. He knows what he has to improve on and he's laid out a plan of attack to work on those things, which happen to be the same things everyone in here says he has to work on. And now he is apparently going to be working out with Lopez for a good part of his summer training? That is great news indeed.
