Notice how these two are competing for the starting Center spot.Elson looks like he is agressive. Ive heard comments he is the 2nd fastest player on the team behind Parker that is impressive if you tell me. He has little post moves but can defend and rebound more than decent.Oberto has the offfenseive game and has alot of chemistry with Ginobli after playing over almost the whole summer with him. He has a decent jumpshot for the Center position.
After Oberto's 11 for 11 game last night, I think he has earned the starting nod for a little bit. Elson has looked great in a couple games this year as well so I really have no idea. Either way I look at it, they are going to get similar playing time and they are going to contribute about the same. I have been more impressed personally with Elson but that just may be due to the fact that he is a new face in SA and I get excited when he does something well. Personally, I dont care who gets the nod. Now, as to who is a better player. It is up in the air to me. Oberto is a better jump shooter from 12-15 feet, Elson is quicker, both play decent to good defense, and both hustle and are hard working players. I personally say its about a push.

Elson is a good rebounder, and he is athletic, and runs the floor well. Oberto plays defense, he can hit shots, and he hustles. I think coach Pop likes Oberto more, and I think he'll be their starting center. Look how well he's improved in the last year.
Why are we debating what below average center will start for the Spurs? They will both end up splitting minutes anyway.
