He's capable of a 5x5 on any given night, and he's extremely versatile. An All-Star talent. Pierce is arguably a top 10 player in the NBA and he's an offensive god. This will be a great matchup. If I remember correctly, and this is no joke, AK CRIED after a Celtics/Jazz game last year because of his inability to stop Paul Pierce that game. Paul - make him cry again! CelticBalla's Extra Thoughts/Notes No Big Al against a strong frontline like Utah's is going to be hell. I hope Rondo gets time tonight, and I think he should. CelticBalla's Prediction I don't see us winning this game, ESPECIALLY with no Al Jefferson. Utah's frontcourt is just waaaaay too good for us, we can't handle them. I do, however, expect a big game from Delonte West.
first off doesn't Wally have AK47 tonight most of the time? And I agree AK willhave a big game. I dont see many points from him, maybe 8-14 but I do see a ton of blks of the smaller celts driving the lane and some offensive rebounds.I think tonight is Telfairs night to show up and play well. Hes got a edge in the matchup because he can drive the lane and make a play, they're pG cannot so well. I think we will see alot of drives and kick outs tonight to Gomes/Wally in the mid range section.I think the player of the game is going to be Telfair.

AK47 is the best perimeter defender on the Jazz, by far, and Paul Pierce is by far the best player in Boston. Of course AK will guard Pierce, he always does, and he usually never succeeds lol. Also, Deron Williams can't drive the lane and kick out like Telfair can? You are crazy lol. Deron is a very good PG, he's MUCH MUCH MUCH bigger/stronger than Telfair (he will bull right through him), and he's an excellent playmaker. He's a solid defender too. I am expecting Delonte to have a good night. I think hitting that GW Wednesday night will give him a huge boost of confidence, and I think he's going to bounce back and play good basketball like he did last season.
how much are the tickets anyway? I might go down to the garden and get a ticket atthe gste.. probally can... hah
UPDATE: Telfair left the game in the first quarter due to shortnes of breath. He had trouble breathing. So it looks like Rajon will get a lot of playing time tonight. Get well soon, Bassy!
That truly was an excellent game. Great job by the C's. Those refs made some terrible calls late in the game. Those refs, us SUCKING at the line, and BAD SUBBING BY DOC costed is the game, but in the end - we played an excellent game. Doc pissed me right the F*ck off when he subbed in Tony Allen in the 4th for Gomes (making Pierce and Szczerbiak our C and PF :ranting: ). Ratliff didn't play the entire 4th. WTF? Doc needs to be fired, pronto. That 3rd quarter was great though, the lineup of Gomes/Pierce/Gerald/Delonte/Rondo was incredible defensively. Utah went small so we did too, and we played well. I will also say Deron Williams is a stud. Paul Pierce 30 points, 9 rebounds, 4 assists, 2 steals, 1 block Pierce was Pierce, he's a great player. He did everything he could, he denied Boozer the ball when he was on him, and he rebounded. Typical great night from Paul. Wally Szczerbiak 14 points, 5 rebounds, 6 assists on 5-15 shooting (eh) Wally didn't have a good shooting night, but he played hard and he really made some terrific passes. He should have taken advantage of his mismatches in the post though. Rajon Rondo 13 points, 4 rebounds, 3 assists, 3 steals on 5-10 shooting RONDO!!!!!!!!! I love this kid. He did absolutely everything, he husted, rebounded (got a big cleanup bucket), penetrated nicely, made some great passes (especially the ones to West and Perk). He played pretty solid defense and stole the ball a lot. He has great hands. I love Rondo, no reason Doc should ever have Rondo be the victim of a DNP ever again unless he's hurt/sick. Ryan Gomes 11 points, 9 rebounds, 3 assists Gomes was awesome tonight. He was forced to play center and he did a great job with it. He was a monster on the boards and he made big buckets at the end. Delonte West 10 points, 2 rebounds, 2 assists, 1 block on 4-10 shooting Delonte looked better tonight. He missed some long balls but he played well. He played both guard positions tonight and did well at each one. He had a sick block and made some key plays. He's slowly getting back into his groove. Kendrick Perkins 10 points, 4 rebounds, 4 blocks, only 2 fouls!!! Perk played excellent tonight. Excellent. He made all 5 of his FG attempts, he finished, he didn't foul, he had 4 excellent blocks. I love what Perk did tonight, unfortunately he had a tough time covering Okur on the perimeter (as expected). Tony Allen 5 points, 3 rebounds, 1 steal, 3 turnovers I don't think TA played well, again. He made some stupid turnovers as usual, he tried posting up a couple times (which I didn't like), he passed up open jumpers only to get himself caught in a bad penetration. His defense - again, not Tony Allen-like from a year or two ago. Grrrrrrrr. Brian Scalabrine 3 rebounds, 1 assist, 1 steal, 1 block in 10 minutes Scal played very well tonight, awesome job. He played good defense, helped on the glass, and hustled. If he did this every night I would have no problem with him. Gerald Green 2 points, 1 assist in 7 minutes Gerald played alright tonight. Pretty solid. He was key in some defensive traps (which people won't give him credit for because he didn't come up with the steal in the end, but he did well in that department), he made a real nice pass to Pierce. He needs more consistant minutes, I'm glad he's getting a little time lately. I would still play him 12-15 minutes and cut TA's minutes, but oh well. Sebastian Telfair Bassy only played 7 minutes, then he left and went to the hospital due to shortage of breath. I hope he's alright. It was sort of a blessing in disguise however, considering how well Rondo played. Michael Olowokandi DNP (kind of surprised considering how well he has been, but we went small tonight and we were playing well). Doc Rivers Suck a fat one, don't let the door hit you on the way out. 1-4 Next game: tomorrow night @ Cleveland (greeeaaaat).
good game by rondo. you're right cb, what retarded subbing by doc. I mean, to put tony allen in for anybody with the way that he's playing right now, let alone gomes, making pierce our center.
