I think he deserves to be in it. Like you pointed out, 4 Defensive Player of the Year awards in 5 seasons - that's incredible. He's one of the best rebounders in the league in the past 5 seasons, he's a leader, a good guy, and he helped Detroit get a ring. I think he should be in.
Well nearly all those DPOY Winners are going to eventually going to end up in the hall of fame and Ben Wallace is defently one of them.and yes it would be stupid not to put a 4 time defensive player of the year in the Hall of Fame, he's even got a championship under his belt so I don't see Wallace not making the Hall of Fame one day, no way thats going to happen.
Ben is worthy to go to the Hall of Fame. I am going to take a wild guess and say that some people are going to say no because of his offense, but he has been the premier defensive player in the league for the last half-decade. He has a ring too, and got it beating an overwhelming favorite. Ben along with most of the otehrs on that list should make the Hall.
<span style="font-family:Tahoma">Yeah, I'm pretty sure he'll be in the Hall-of-Fame. You just can't ignore four DPoY awards.</span>
I really dont see him making teh hall of fame, Yes he is arguably oen of the greatest defenders of all time, but his offense has never been good, and will keep many voters from voting for him when it comes time to decide who makes it

Of course he deserves it. 4 DPOY in five years is insane another note is that he was undrafted and he was the first undrafted player to compete in the All-Star Game. He has one championship and had apearrances in the Eastern Confrences. THe fans loved to watch him and is arguably the best shot blocker and rebounder to ever play in the game.
Of course he does. Ontop of the 4 DPOY awards, he is probably the best rebounder of our era (and he's only 6'9''ish), he is a fantastic shotblocker, and was the heart and soul of those mighty successful Pistons teams. As Pinoy said, first undrafted player to appear in an ASG, and I am sure he has broken a lot of records in terms of being undrafted.
Yes, he will. He's a success story. 6'9" (on a good day) center who was undrafted becomes all-star center, win championship ring, the enforcer on one of the best teamplaying teams ever. Yes, he will make the HOF.<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE (L T @ Nov 10 2006, 11:35 AM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}></div><div class='quotemain'>No way, he WAY to one demensional to be a HOF.er!</div>11rpg 2.5 bpg 1.5 spg on a regular basis is not one dimensional. Just cause you aint the greatest offensive player doesn't mean you're one dimensional. There are many dimensions to basketball.
He will make the HOF because of his 4 DPY awards. I think he's lucky that he played in a time period with very few great post defenders...he got a lot of those DPY awards by basic default. If I were running the HOF I wouldn't put him in. A lot of people right now overrate him like many people now overrate PG's that put up 18/9 a game...simply because there are not many around anymore. I just don't think he played at his peak long enough. His shotblocking numbers are down from a few years ago and so are his rebounds. He didn't play much his first few years because of how raw he was. In my opinion he's like Nash. Great for a few years and got the awards...and because of the awards will get in when he shouldn't. And Pinoy, saying he's arguably the best shotblocker and rebounder to ever play is just ridiculous.
Maybe...He wasnt drafted, and struggled to even make NBA rosters in the early days. He has no offensive game whatsoever. But I think his rebounding, and defense will warrant him a spot in the HOF.

I say he's a lock. You win 4 DPOY's in 5 years, make your way from undrafted to leaving your mark as a defensive beast, one dimensional but still an all star team starter... you just can't leave that fact wiothout some kind of recognition.Plus he's got Larry O'Brian's support! :dribble:
Yeah... 4 DPoY awards are nothing to sneeze at and he's been a staple in the All-NBA Defensive teams, but I definitely don't think he's a lock to make the hall. How many guys make it each year? About 3-6? THere's already a ton of deserving guys who get overlooked every year. Ben Walace is good, and definitely a great defensive player, but I doubt he'll make the Hall of Fame.

Probably, but the "four DPOY's in five years" thing isn't a huge deal, I think defensive awards in the NBA are turning into the same thing as defensive awards in baseball. That it, people put down names of people who are said to play great defense (as you can't really judge it on numbers). Interestingly enough, the positions with the most defensive stats (post players), win the vast majority of defensive awards.
