Should he really be considered the greatest coach of all time? Is he a great coach or has he been fortunate enough to coach 5 of the greatest players in NBA history? You decide...

Phil Jackson is not overrated, he's a great coach. Great coach. Sure, he's had some great players (MJ, Pippen, Kobe, Shaq, Rodman, aging GP/Malone), but just because he had stars doesn't take away what he has done. He gets all the role players to do just that - understand their role. Derek Fisher, Rick Fox, Robert Horry, Tyronn Lue, Ron Harper, Luc Longley, Steve Kerr, etc. He got all those guys to understand their role completely, and he's doing it now with Parker, Walton, Evans, and Turiaf. He's a great game-planner, he preaches every aspect of the game to his team (especially defense, which 3/5 coaches nowadays seem to shy away from defense and focus on running), he always gets/got the best out of his players and had them play the very best they could/can in their role.To say Phil Jackson is overrated, that could only bring me to one conclusion: you are jealous.

More like underrated. Everyone discredits his rings because he has always had great players. But yet everyone forgets that all these superstars were losers before they met phil.

You need great players to win championships. Name me a coach with multiple championships that didn't have great talent. Not many coaches could handle the ego's Jackson's had to deal with and win 9 titles. Believe it or not, you couldn't just throw any coach with the Bulls or Lakers and win titles.

Note: Bulls didn't win a championship until Phil took over, even with MJ & Pippen playing like legends.P.S: Lakers didn't win a championship until Phil took over, even with Shaq dominating the league and Kobe becoming a young star.

HE turns losers into winners. People discredit him because he had the best and role players but they don't understand that he was able to make them interact with eachother.
