Isn't Crysis like four years old? Nevermind, almost SIX years old. How the hell could computers still have trouble with it?
http://www.game-debate.com/games/in...Edition&ram=8&checkSubmit=#systemRequirements My new system is hilariously overbuilt for Crysis 1,
Mine's better, take that! http://www.game-debate.com/games/in... 560 Ti&ram=8&checkSubmit=#systemRequirements
I like building rigs. I'm due for a new one next year or so. Currently running an i7 as well, bit older than yours obviously (3820, Sandy Bridge E), running at about 3.7 GHz. It's running off the X79 SBridge (ASUS P9X79 mobo). Water-cooled (closed loop). I like Corsair for memory as well. I'm running 16 GB (4 channels) PC3-10700 at a DRAM Frequency of .7 GHz (1333 @ 9/9/9/24 at highest latency). I bought a big GTX 670 with the system rather than running two cards or more. 4.1 GB of memory seems to roll through pretty well anything even with new games at max settings. Mind you I'm not someone to have the FPS ticking in the corner. I played the hell out of FarCry 3 with it and it always looked great. I'm also using an SSD. I'd never go back to mechanical drives. I have a 256 GB card as the primary drive (real size only about 223) and a 1TB mechanical card for storage. I could probably use more space on the main drive but at the time SSD's were pretty expensive in larger sizes so I had to make do. I bought a Blu-Ray burner with the system thinking I would be making movie discs but I haven't used it much. I mostly buy digital copies of everything. I could get by without a disc drive at this point and probably would either keep the one I have now or not buy one next time around. Sign of the times I guess.
Does anyone else go to Maingear or Falcon NW or a similar site to fake build a custom rig just to see what the new hardware is?
You don't really need a very big SSD Most of my systems have a 30 or 32 GB SSD that I picked up cheap (but fast write times) along with 2 hard drives. One as a data companion to the SSD which has the system, page, programs, and internet disks defined, The rest is on the hard drive The other hard drive is big bucket for backups and stuff. Several task oriented logical disks are duplicated on multiple system which keeps them somewhat backed up all the time. A big Thumb drive to transport data between systems. I updated a 10 year old Aopen board with a 3.4 Northwood processor last week. Give it and SSD 4GB of memory, Ram Disk defined for Page and it runs slick as hell, damn near as good as the newer stuff. It keeps my wife happy for her usage anyway.
I can be tempted with baked goods. You get the parts and I could be talked into putting it together for you.
