Re: Racial shitstorm part II, the Mark Cuban edition We live in a world now that we can't even say the honest truth without being punished.
Sterling needs to take the Mavs away from Cuban and give them to me. A dog owning the Mavs would mean the NBA is not just racially diverse but also species diverse.
I see a black guy 'thugged out' I stay vigilant. I see a white guy 'thugged out' I stay vigilant. I see a brown guy 'thugged out' I stay vigilant. Now, each of those guys above have different versions of being 'thugged out' depending on their racial/environmental culture. It's the way it is. Each one of those guys above could be 100% good or 100% bad. You never know. However, the overall chance of them being harmful/bad/criminal is greater due to the fact that they fit a predisposed profile of committing violence/crime. Profiles that come from media, entertainment avenues and real world statistics. Does it make me a racist or prejudice to avoid any one of those guys? Or just aware of my surroundings by removing oneself from a potentially bad situation?
I dont view this as that big of an issue. Everyone profiles and has racist tendancies and that stems from society and where you were raised. That doesn't make you racist or bigot. If you cant stand a certain race and be it in public or private you talk bad about that race or type of people, that makes you a racist. Sent from my SM-G900P using Tapatalk
In all seriousness, how do you react when I tell you that if I am alone at a time when there are not a lot of people around or open stores, and I see any male, I go out of my way to avoid him? If I see a group of males I might go all around the block. Color, clothing, tats do not matter. I am willing to bet someone here will call me sexist or paranoid. Or "not all men rape".
I understand that. So you clearly agree with Mark Cuban in saying we all have a little prejudice (or whatever you want to call it) in us?
Does that make you a bad person if you do? All day everyday people are judging situations/people and responding to their judgments. I tend to think it does not. It keeps some people alive as well. Prejudice isn't an all encompassing evil word that most people think it is. I think what Cuban said was fine, but probably bad timing.
No, I'm honestly just asking. Like, some people are making a big deal out of Cuban's comments. But I think we all are guilty of judging and acting on those judgments - a lot of people just can't admit it. Good for Cuban for being honest.
You can hear the difference in Sterling tapes, they are hateful. Not similar in any way what so ever.
