.500 club and nothing more. 9-13 in their last 22 games. 29-18 at this time last year and they sit at 24-23 this season. Five games worse than a team last year that was complete trash.

Sorry 59 this is simply not a team that's going to do much of anything. You can look no further then the fact that there's just no starting pitching which in the long run will kill any and every team. Kuroda leads this dose of reality with the following alarmingly bad numbers dating back to the last two months of last season.

Kuroda in his last 121 Innings pitched with 67 earned runs and 140 hits allowed.

Sabathia's 2013 and 2014 combined 257 Innings pitched with 139 earned runs and 282 hits allowed.

Combined that's 378 Innings pitched with 206 earned runs and 422 hits allowed.

That's how horrifically terrible those two have been.

I have to be honest, I've been defending this team all season long saying that its still early but you can only say that for so long. And as we now approach the 1/3rd mark of the season reality is slowly beginning to set in for me. This is just not a very good baseball team right now. I say right now because I still have the HOPES that we'll turn things around. But with Tanaka being our only stopper & most of the team hitting in the 260s or lower it just doesn't look good.

Whats really disappointing is that you'd think after the team spending over 400M on free agents that we would be better than last years team. Like I said.....not good.

Just running out and spending money on names doesn't work. You have to put together the best team possible from top to bottom in order to succeed. Too many holes on this team for the amount of money spent. On top of that you're expecting guys approaching 40 to do offensively what they did at 26. Having hope is one thing but believing a miracle is going to occur is another thing.

...sorry, but for one, I'm nowhere near throwing in the towel. And no one expects a 40 year old to play like a 26 year old, nobody.

What's funny is that every team in the AL East is having similar fan discussions about blah blah blah .500 team. The difference between 1st place and the basement is a bad road trip or home stand. Its not early, but this division has so much parity right now it seems early. 90-92 wins likely takes this division at this point, and every team has a shot at doing that. I wish every year could be 1998.

Oh I don't think anyone is quite throwing in the towel yet Ron but it is looking a little bleak right now.

That was my feeling after 20 games, that was my feeling after 40 games & its still my feeling as we approach 50 games. All I've gotta say is the DAWN better get here soon before we find ourselves looking up at 3-4 other teams.

Predawn twilight spans the next sixty+ days until the trade deadline. Its a marathon, not a sprint. Besides Cervelli should be back in 2-3 weeks, gives us a catcher to trade.

I really don't know how the absence of starting pitching gets completely lost here. When you have no pitching it just gets worse as the season gets further on. Nova is gone, Kuroda and Sabathia are terrible and one is hurt and Pineda is a head case who is also currently out with an injury. So you have Tanaka and then four other rotation spots they you just have to hope about each and every time. This is all before you get to the lineup which is simply not scaring anybody.

Do you think fans in Toronto are complaining about their team?

    ...really?...maybe this is where I got the idea;

"Sorry 59 this is simply not a team that's going to do much of anything."

...sounds like throwing in the towel to me. Do you think Boston and Rays fans are happy right now?...every fucking time this team loses 2-3 games it's the same shit of the blame game and hand wringing and sense of entitlement...and when they win 2-3 games, silence.

...this team has played 47 freaking games with 115 games to go...they have players who as of yet, have not played as well as they can, they have players who will be returning from the DL, they have the opportunity to acquire pieces by the trade deadline, and the 2nd 1/2 schedule is in their favor.

...oh yeah, that's right, using your logic, because of last year's record they have no business being a whopping 5 games over .500....I asked you before and I'll ask again, how do you explain the records of Boston, TB, Cleveland, Pittsburgh, etc.?
