Ha, you're forgetting about 61! Neil starts rumors that a player he wants has serious injury issues and doesn't get drafted. Hello, training camp invite, yo. Maybe not.

There is a bit of a drop after 6/7 but I'd guess it'll be something close to this:

    #1 Joel Embiid
    #2 Jabari Parker
    #3 Andrew Wiggins
    #4 Dante Exum
    #5 Noah Vonleh
    #6 Marcus Smart
    #7 Julius Randle

After this there is a bit of a drop off.

This is probably the least interested I've been in the draft in years.

It's really too bad because it's one of the best drafts in recent memory

I have a hard time caring when we don't have a single pick. I'll still watch because it's possible the Blazers will trade in, but I'm not holding my breath.

Myth. Jerry West also says it's one of the poorest. The top three is good but I don't see any one of them as perennial all stars and max contract guys (embiid has the potential but he's already got injury questions. Wiggins has the potential but not the drive. He seems like the type that would be happy being a 6th man) After that it's just like any other draft....until you get past 7 or 8. Then it gets really bad.

So because you disagree, it's a myth? Several NBA execs have already gone on record as saying it's one of the best

This isn't necessarily a "mock" but rather a list of the players I like:

I'm not as high on Wiggins as everyone else. I also think that Anderson and Adams are going to be solid starters. I'd love to see one of them slip to late first early second and see if the Blazers can somehow get their hands on them.

Which NBA execs are "on the record" saying it's one of the best drafts? I must have missed several of them talking up this draft. :dunno:

Last fall, NBA executives bemoaned what was expected to be a weak 2013 draft class. This fall? Those same execs are gushing about the next one. An infusion of superior freshman talent and one irresistible Australian import have many believing the Class of '14 could be the best in years.

"Obviously, there is a long way to go," an Eastern Conference executive said. "Remember, how many people thought Shabazz Muhammad [the 14th pick in the 2013 draft after one season at UCLA] was the next big thing? But looking at the pure talent in this class, you can say five or six guys will almost certainly be All-Stars and another five or six could easily get there."

So who exactly is that who went on record? I'm not aware of any NBA exec named "an Eastern Conference Executive."

So do you disagree that it was a hyped up draft described as one of the best in a long time, or are you just wanting to argue the semantics of "on the record"?

The writer went to the draft combine and cites a number of different executives. If they don't want to be named, I can see it. They don't want to tip off the others who's on their draft boards.

Great. So no NBA execs went "on the record" to call this one of the best drafts ever. The only exec who is on the record, Jerry West, says it's overrated. Why wouldn't teams with high draft picks try to try and overrate their pick? I tend to believe real people over anonymous sources.

    http://espn.go.com/espnw/news-comme...ous-nba-gm-why-team-tank-season-espn-magazine

OUR TEAM ISN'T good enough to win and we know it. So this season we want to develop and evaluate our young players, let them learn from their mistakes -- and get us in position to grab a great player. The best way for us to do that is to lose a lot of games. This draft is loaded. There are potential All-Stars at the top, maybe even franchise changers. Sometimes my job is to understand the value of losing.

I know that sounds crazy, but if you're an NBA general manager like me, the last place you want to be is in the middle. There are only two outcomes there: Either make the playoffs and be first-round fodder for one of the premier teams or miss the playoffs and pick somewhere around 11th to 14th in the draft. Either way, the odds are that you stay in that middle range. It's a recipe for disaster.
