That was scary, they were pretty much dominating the game but still had one goal.

I called a shutout for hank. To be honest, he did not have much to do except for a couple of chances. They played their best defensive game in the playoffs. Plus Montreal seemed to be out of gas.

Hank's best save was on girardi's deflection.

Woohoo! Now they don't play until next Wednesday, let's hope that doesn't cool them off too much.

Solid team effort tonight, though would have liked to see more than one goal so it wasn't as stressful!

What a game and a great win. It was awesome to see us play so well and totally shutdown Montreal. Hank made maybe 3 or 4 big saves all night, that is how good we were on D. Just an amazing team effort.

This series played out the way a handful of us saw it at the start, up 3-2 and then the Rangers winning in 6. To me that was always our best bet here as winning game 7 in Montreal was going to be a very difficult challenge. Now we do not need to worry about that.

Not my style to get on fans in here, but to all the guys who gave up, or knocked Hank, or said we were done, or Montreal would destroy us now, I say come on people. I know you are Ranger fans otherwise you would not be on this board, but have a little faith please. This team has a lot of heart, and there is something to be said for that. I don't know if they will beat a great team in the SCF, but I do know they will play hard and leave it on the ice.

Out West I says let's go Hawks tonight. Extend that series to 7. Plus I "rather" play the Hawks anyway. In reality I think it will be a challenge for the Hawks to win tonight unless they play their best game of the series by far. And if it is the Kings, what a goalie matchup. Quick vs. Hank. Winner takes all. Winner will be crowned the best goalie in the NHL IMO.

I am excited. Last night was awesome. Amazing effort and performance by the whole team. Take a few days off and let's get ready for the SCF.

    WE WANT THE CUP!!!

I can't say it enough, I truly did not see the Rangers making the Finals about 10 games into the Callahan/St Louis trade. But after every win in the playoffs I became a little more hopeful. I didn't think they had a chance after going down 3-1 against the Pens following game 4 at the Garden. I left that building absolutely disgusted with them. But they came back. You can't give enough credit to the coaching staff and players. They never quit. There are a lot of heart and soul guys on this team which is what you need to get where they are.
One other player that I think gets overlooked because he doesn't really show up on the score sheet but who is as solid as they get is Kevin Klein. They have been a much better defensive team since they traded for him. He has really impressed me in the playoffs. And over the last few games he has really tried to step up on the rush...a bunch of times you'd see the Rangers coming down on a 3 on 2 and Klein would be the 2nd or 3rd player. Not what you expect from him but effort like that is what can change games.

When the team started 3-7 nobody could've predicted a trip to the finals. Two years ago they should've made it but Tort's style wore them down and allowed New Jersey to beat them. Now they're back and it would be ironic if the opponent is Los Angeles who would've been the same two years ago. Either way you're waiting for the last two cup winners to come out of the West.

What a night, the Garden rocked. This team has become so resilient. I also predicted a shut out, unless there was some lucky goal which there almost was. I was very confident they would play so hard defensively they would not allow Mtl any space at all. 3rd period was amazing. Looked like we had 7 skaters on the ice at all times. Kept making great defensive stops, threw the puck ahead, and so much speed to get the puck and attack. Even guys who aren't that fast were last night. Will need a supreme effort to win it all but why not? Lets Go Rangers!!!

When we started 3-7 Al was telling us every day how well Torts was doing in VAN. Haven't seen Al Torts mention his relative in a while now, huh. When we started 3-7 people like Caged/Eyes were doing their usual whining, about how fed up they were with this team, how he'd never fall for it again, etc etc.
When we started 3-7 the board was ready to crucify AV and give up on this team. Only a few posters preached patience to give this team enough time to gel.
Even after we recovered from the bad start, we still had posters who wanted to be sellers in January b/c they "knew" we weren't going anywhere.

It goes to show you what can happen in a long season. The playoffs are just a different animal. You get appreciation for how difficult the cup is to win. The three rounds have had us up and down like a roller coaster. I'm just happy we didn't have to wait another 34 years to see them back in the finals. From 30 to 16 to 2. Anything can happen now.

Wish this forum had a way that when there was more than 1 post for example someone replies with a quote you could add to it and show 3,4 or more quotes on the same post as opposed to just the 2 you can now.
