So if I am to understand the line up this coming up basketball season, there will be no local sports radio during my morning drive into work.

I don't care if it is 750, 1080 or 1190 or if it is Chad, Suke, Travis or Wilcox . . . I want to hear morning Blazer talk and analysis of the game played last night or game coming up that night. Instead I have to listen to Collin talk football or Patrick talk about the Knicks, Nets or Lakers with maybe an occasional Blazer reference every now and then.

    This sucks!

Kinda funny how when The Game launched, they promoted it as "Portlands best LOCAL sports station". Not so local anymore.

After listening to the new lineup for the game for a short while now, I'm convinced the game will kill the fan until noon, and vice versa with the local shows. I really don't like not being able to listen to live and local and the morning, and Chad just isn't an afternoon guy, although Isaac and Suke need to spend just a little more time on sports.

I flipped back and forth between the fan and the game in the mid day slot today, wilcox was out, and I hate to say it, but it was really a better show with just travis, it's not even close. I'm a little frightened for them when it's time to talk trail blazers. Canzano had a really interesting angle with fife on regarding the SI cover from 03, and now DAT on it this week, but lost me when he had the winter hawks coach on.

My issue with Wilcox is that he sounds like he's bored. Same monotone voice all the time... no excitement.

I have to agree with you regarding Wilcox talking Blazers. I have to believe the powers that be at 1080 have instructed him that he cannot take such a whimsical "I don't really care" position when it comes to the Blazers. Even Isaak and Suke attend most if not every Blazer game, and though I know for a fact they barely care about the Blazers, they're professional about it. They have a thoughtful take. I'll be listening with curiosity when training camp opens and then the subsequent season to see if Wilcox can contribute anything at all.

I'm telling you, the sports radio station that does a local show in the morning during Blazer season will win the morning commute listeners.

    Somebody here buy a radio station . . .

You have a very valid point there. The only rebuttal I have comes from a purely selfish perspective. I don't listen to local radio in the morning after a Blazers loss. Ever. I can't handle it on so many levels. I may or may not be alone in that. But the point being, the Blazers are facing the potential of losing a lot of games this season. If by chance there are a lot of people like me then perhaps not having local morning sports radio isn't such a bad move.

reading through some feedback on pdxradio, and hearing some rumblings from some in radio, and google brought me back here.... It sounds like changes to Portland sports radio in general. A new local morning show at 620 apparently in the works for quite a while. If i recall correctly it was a two year deal for Travis & Wilcox in June of 2012.... No traditional multi-year agreement announcement a month ahead of time. Maybe they try and pick off one or both. I wonder what happens now at 750 with their new PD search. Seems like the only stability in this market is Isaac and Suke, Chad, and Canzano.

There is a local show here in Houston that is completely unlistenable. Constant juvenile sex and racist tones to the show (one of the hosts is black)

Then another show that is must listen. Best sports radio show I have heard

I'd love to see The Fan get Travis a new partner. Wilcox is hard to listen to IMO. He often times cant even get a sentence out without stumbling on his own words. Most of what he does say is obvious stuff that every sports fan knows.

Not having any local sports radio shows is stupid, however I completely understand why. No one expected the Blazers to be worth talking about in the mornings AND the ratings and costs of syndicated shows probably outweighs that of local shows.

And those who were doing (good) morning shows seem to end up leaving anyways. I like Dan Patrick, I like Colin (to a lesser degree), but I don't care much about most of the shit they talk about.

Taylor Danforth just announced on twitter that Danforth Dirt and Sprague are taking over noon-3pm on the fan starting June 9, and added that the staff is being reshuffled.... didn't see that one coming

They should make him call in rather than be in studio. Kielbasa and frijole pirogis, with guacamole and horseradish? I bet his breath would knock a dog off of a meat truck...

Wilcox is going to be a "contributor" during football season, unless he gets hired by another station or decides to give up on radio.
