You lost me at "Dame is our leader." Maybe one day, but not yet. The rest of this plan puts us into the lottery for 2015. This is a horrible idea.
If Minnesota were silly enough to trade Love for Batum that deal would have been done yesterday. That's one of those once in a lifetime sort of opportunities you just gotta take.
It is commonly agreed among NBA keyboard jockies that Love is going to leave. I'll grant that they may like Batum. But I doubt Portland is the only potential trade partner in the Kevin Love sweepstakes among 28 other NBA franchises. What that means to me is, they can probably get a lot more than a never-will-be-an-all-star Nicolas Batum for a will-be-a-multiple-all-star and All NBA Kevin Love. Personally, I also like Batum. Further, I have no interest in gutting the Blazers for a prima donna like Kevin Love. Let some other team enjoy the bounty of his empty stats.
To further your point: Sam Amico @SamAmicoFSO Buzz around #NBA is #Kings leaders in Kevin Love sweepstakes when/if occur. Don't care about extension. Will trade anything but Cousins. 1:18 PM - 4 Jun 2014 Although whats with the Batum never being an all star talk . . . I like to refer to him as future-mulitple-all-star Batum
I am guessing that many players would love to play with DMC and others would hate playing with him. Not sure KL and DNC's personalities would mesh.
