In regard to your first topic, I think that is exactly your point, but you don't realize it. The only way for kids to value life, as far as I can tell based off your comments, is for there to be more death. Which defeats the point.

In regard to your next point, I would speculate the struggling economy is related. Parents might work longer hours, have more stress, and struggle for money. Contributing to a disconnect with their children.

Last point, I agree. It sounds like the only thing different, would be if one could force the kid into a mental institution for a three to six months.

While they don't fit exactly the same way, they are still very similar. It is all about revenge. Yes these current ones are revenge against broader groups, but it's still someone who feels they were wronged and want vengeance.

Thanks. The media jumping to conclusions involving school shootings is pretty rampant. The book Columbine by Dave Cullen is a very interesting read. Things we were told during the tragedy were fraught with inaccuracies.

Chicago is a "gun free" city and has more shootings than any other city in America. Last I checked criminals don't obey laws.

In regards to the economy, I think I commented on that in another post. When I was growing up there were only a few latch-key kids, and they were usually the ones who acted out in class. Now it seems like most families have both parents working because they can't afford to have anyone stay at home. It would be interesting to see how many more latch-key kids are in school today compared to twenty years ago.

You don't get it :) You don't take guns away from the USA, because that is impossible. People will make guns, steal guns, import guns illegally, 3D print guns, etc, etc.

Didn't Adam Lanza get denied a gun due to a background check fail, but still stole a gun anyway?

Bad people will do bad things to get bad tools of destruction, regardless if they are made 'illegal'.

I guess there are more bad people in the US than in other countries.

It still addresses the point that there's a serious problem with kids, and whether it's guns or knives, they're still trying to kill people. That they didn't succeed is only a miracle. That one girl was stabbed 19 times. Most people die from that.

New no. But couple that with lackluster mental health care (and our inability to lock these people up), you have the problem. Knives, guns, whatever, it makes no difference.

There are more people in the US than most countries, so yes, by proxy there would be more bad people.

That could be true honestly. Or we could be poisoning our citizens w/our food supply exasperating the mental health crisis that plagues this country. Or, maybe there are shootings like this in other countries but they just don't get the media attention?

Either way, banning guns from the USA, won't stop the criminals and crazies. Do you think it would?

    Back on topic
The gunman wounded a teacher, then was trapped in a bathroom.
The confusion that occurred about the number of gunmen at the scene apparently happened because two students were found carrying guns when authorities did a pat-down.
A 14-year-old boy who was in the gym said he heard a loud noise. He and his friends thought something had fallen. It was a gunshot.

Bummer for the two kids who were carrying. They're pretty much fucked.
