Obama seems to be doing things his way in the 2nd term . . . time for him to take on this gun issue his way. Get the damn guns off the streets.
While I agree with a lot of what Further said, I still think that you're addressing the tools and not the root of the problem. The root of the problem is the mentally challenged, pyshco sick person out there. Regardless of gun or knife (as we've seen in the Chinese knife massacre) people will still find ways to kill others. Say you enact these gun laws, where do you stop? Should you then continue onto knives, swords, blades? How about bombs, or equipment to make them, etc, etc...
Do the police officers get to keep theirs? There's always a chance one of them goes batshit and starts shooting up some peds.
Luckily, they go through a rigorous series of testing standards and evaluations prior to getting a gun. Yes there is a small chance a bad-apple gets through.
Fuck that. I'm packing. I've already got my CHL, I rarely carry, but damned if these situations don't make it sound more appealing.
One of the kids interviewed said there were rumors that there was going to be a shooting this week. Staff was told but didn't take it seriously. Also Reynolds is the 2nd largest high school in Oregon and has gang problems. There have been a lot of recent gang shootings in the Gresham area lately and today's shooting could be related to that.
I don't know. He somehow got people with pre-existing medical conditions insurance coverage . . . he can get the guns off the streets.
I haven't been out there for a couple of years. I used to go up to Hot Track in Vancouver about once a month when it was open. I had that track down. I even raced against Greg Biffle up there a couple of times. Really fun. Even managed to spin him out and pass him but he got me back real fast.
That is correct, and at your home it may result in the deaths of you or your loved ones because of your refusal to take the most basic steps to protect them. At my home it would result in the death of the perpetrator.
First off, I agree that these laws are not the end of of the situation. We do need to look into parenting, pharmaceuticals, high-school social dynamics, youth mental healthcare resources and any other piece of the puzzle. There is no magic bullet (pardon the pun) that will fix the problem. There are many moving parts and progress needs to be made on all of them to see significant improvement. Second, I proposed very specific laws and that's where you stop, at least for the time being. Perhaps other laws will become evident, but in our society we too often say _______ isn't going to totally fix the problem, so why try, or _______ isn't a going to totally fix the problem so where would we stop, and if we don't know where to stop, let's not even start. How bout a bit of common sense.
Sure, I understand; but the bolded part is the important part. And common sense eludes a vast majority of people.
Obama reads all your posts. Don't feel special. He reads everyone's posts and emails and text messages everywhere, and listens to your phone calls, sees who you write checks to, etc.
His facetious reply needed no agreement. I just replied to it with my own personal action going forward. ;-)
