Was just thinking about Nash and what a disappointment he has been, especially with AV and his system he should be a monster....alas he is just another big time scorer who gets to collect a huge paycheck from the Rangers to be on this team next year, what team out there is going to want him? Plus he has the NTC which limits With a buyout of Richards, does anyone think we could land both Stastny and Moulson?
I like the idea of Moulson for the right price. Stastny im not big on, i think he's a good center but not sold on him(maybe cause he's in the west and I havent seen much of him). I would like to explore a trade for kesler, as he has played for AV and is the number 1 TWF center we dearly need. As far as Nash goes, he is tradeable but we may not get the return we are looking for, that said I could go either way with him, we could always keep him and see how he does. If Nash does well maybe pull the trigger at the trade deadline or keep. Is stepan a player that is no touch as for as a trade chip is a big question.
Richards $$ would equal Stastny but after that I don't think they'll have more than 2-3m extra if both Stralman and Pouliot are re-signed. They could use another high quality forward though, he or Vrbata would be great. Move Hagelin down. This is just from looking over projections on capgeek but maybe they could finagle an extra 2-3m somehow. CK/MZ/Brass are each going to 3m+, I'd let Boyle go and go cheaper with Lindberg. Who knows with D. Moore. Miller needs a spot too. I would definately entertain moving Stepan and a prospect or two for Kesler if the money worked on the cap.
Al, I could be wrong but I thought kessler changed his mind before the trade deadline and said he would be ok traded to the rangers.
I think Nash is looking like himself this series making some big hits and going to the net. Just needs to finish the play now. Coming back from 2 concussions although not something any of us want to hear is still a good reason why nash hasn't been Nash for awhile. He looks to me like he is finally clearing the cobwebs out.
He has been driving but is doing the one hand on the stick one arm doing a armbar shield and weakly shoveling the puck at the net... Sent from my SM-G900P using Tapatalk
Nash. I do not know what to think. His production does not merit his paycheck. One thing for sure. There will be new faces on this team. Finishing for many on this club has been a problem. Better centers is a priority. And D men to lead an inept PP. The only question I ask now is....has the Ranger window closed?
Let Stralman walk since he already turned down a very fair offer and hasn't exactly had a great postseason. The "window closed" question is a tough one. Some people thought the window may have closed already after a disappointing postseason last year. But here we are in the Finals. We lost a few players and it took an extra season for players like zuccs, Kreider, and Brassard to step up. So how quickly and/or can some new players (whether from the minors or free agency) replace the players who won't be here? Impossible to say. One thing is certain though - Hank isn't getting any younger, and he's probably not going to get any better. That could very well mean the window is closed if we can't get at least 2-3 goals to support him in most playoff games. (Of course 3 goals and 4 goals weren't enough in games 1 and 2...)
Henrik should be a competent goalie till at least age 37 so that makes the window 5 years imo. We have a lot of good youth that has stepped up this year with more on its way from below. We will also add hopefully a couple of pieces in fa to supplement what we have . Need a big center and a punishing defenseman to take the next step.
I wouldn't say the window is closing but to me they have the next 2-3 years with a top 5 goalie in Hank leading the way. They certainly need to add to the talent pool if they want to get over the top. That being said there's no reason a guy like Kreider shouldn't be a 30 goal scorer. Nash should also be a 30+ goal guy despite his playoff struggles.
