Wait, he threw some nice checks though, and played hard on the PK. Plus he had a lot of shots. That is way more important than the fact he had 3 goals in 25 playoff games, and missed an empty net. Worth 7.8 per for sure.
I know just trying to mix frustration with a little levity. In all seriousness they have a major problem with this guy if you ask me.
You win and lose as a team which anyone would agree with. That being said when your highest paid winger gives you nothing in 20+ playoff games it's inexcusable.
It really is amazing how worthless and soft Nash is when the games matter I still think he is tradeable but his value is not great I would admit The team got next to nothing from Richards, Nash and Girardi and still gave the Kings a fight
I expect to see girardi having surgery on the 2 torn ACL's he must have to explain his piss poor play in the playoffs. If he did that healthy we are in trouble.
guys, we know nash sucked this post season, this loss is on him , your best player gets out scored by your 4th line center who plays a fraction of the time as you, it sucks... we are stuck with him.... just pray that he works on his game this off season and scores 50 next year. i dont know, i dont want to hear anything more about this piece of shit. ok
The epitome of Nash was not being able to get that puck into the empty net in OT. I know it went off a stick for another lucky LA break but it was just typical.
If Nash had the playoff Gaborik had. They would have won the cup. Imagine that, Gabby killed us this series.
Rangers are stuck with two horrible contracts - Nash and Girardi. No way around that, and no way to get any relief from that. After these playoffs, neither guy would be attractive at all to another team. Nash has a chance if he really take a good hard look at himself, and takes it personal as to how badly he let this team down. Girardi - dumb contract, limited talent - type of guy who got paid and will turn to shit real fast. That last part has already happened. Dan Girardi = Brian McCann.
Disagree totally on Girardi. I know it will now be the in thing to knock him and his contract and forget ALL the good he did and does because of a bad 5 game series against the Kings, but I won't forget it. The guy is a # 2/3 dman. Lower 1st pair upper 2nd pair guy. That is what he is. At his cap hit that is reasonable, even if you think he is a # 3 guy period. So I disagree and believe his contract is just fine in the 5's. With that said, we do need another top 4 dman to add to McD, Girardi, and Staal, that I believe. Our 3rd pair is very solid with Klein and Moore. And maybe McIlrath can get into that mix next season. But another top 4 guy, and an upgrade over Stralman is needed to round us out. And he needs to be a big physical guy as well. That needs to be a big focus this summer IMO. Maybe Orpik?
Girardi didn't play well but he's fine. Especially if the Rangers improve the defense with some size and a guy who can actually shoot the puck effectively from the point. Nash is the one that absolutely killed them. Not a single point in the finals. No goals in three of the four rounds. As has been discussed except for an 11 goal month in the regular season he pretty much sucked there also. He needs to look himself in the mirror and make the decision to play like an animal next season. A 35-40 goal year.
I would be more concerned about Staal than Girardi. Staal was terrible after the Flyer series where he was great. Not sure what the future holds for him. He could get dealt if they don't get a new deal done this summer. Girardi will be fine as a # 2 or 3 dman. Staal I am more concerned with moving forward. And he is a UFA next summer as well. And something else on Staal, his O has regressed. Almost zero ability to score or get points. His game has regressed. Injuries hurt him no doubt, but he never became the player we hoped he would 2 or 3 years ago. What we do with Staal over the next 12 months will be very interesting to watch.
Staal is another guy who I think will be looking to have a big season next year. I give him some what of a break considering the eye injury he came back from and then also having to deal with a concussion.
Mess, I agree with you we need someone to run that pp on top that can shoot. I'm in the minority hear with Nash but I'm still not convinced he is completely over the effects of the 2 concussions. It takes time. As for the finals I thought he was far from invisible and did some good things. He didn't score any points in the finals but was completely snakebitten. As for the actual plays I can remember he set up kreids perfectly in one of the OT's and Kreids hit the post and in OT yesterday only a god damn fluke play by the defender deflecting his shot with the shaft of his stick kept that puck from being an OT winner for us. That would have directly involved him in 2 of our cup final wins. One of the things also with Nash is on AV for not having him out there on the PP instead of friggin richards. I say we have to give him at least next year to clear the rest of the cobwebs out and see what we have. Al will like this baseball analogy but it is hard to think nash went from cy young to cyanara in 2 years. His value will be low now anyway so even if he agreed to a trade we'd be just about giving him away. I say stay patient with nash for at least next season and hopefully we get rewarded.
