Well, that would be the ideal way to pay for superstar free agents who are pushing 30.

At no point in that contract would he have been overpaid for his performance.

My take is that Uncle Jerry is a pretty hands off owner as long as the team is good enough to fill up the UC. GarPax can pretty much do what they want, within the budget of the luxury tax threshold number.

Thorn...isn't he that chap who all but apologized for drafting Jordan because Sam Bowie was off the board at the 3rd pick? Yeah.

    Big Foam Rod.

Isn't he the guy that built that Nets team that made the finals back to back?

Bulls have Bulls almost made the Finals a year ago with their franchise player out for the season. 2 Finals appearances are nice I guess.

Yeah. In that time we lost a high pick to a bike crash, had a pretty fine team disrupted by back to back seasons out of our franchise player, etc. We have made bonehead moves like the 3 Cs (who did later blossom) tyrus, taking Ben and Luol instead of, say Iggy and Al Jefferson, The Big Gong, etc.

Right now we have a damn fine team and Rose is playing 5 on 5 and reportedly fully healthy.

Not saying Deng isn't a fine player but Iggy was my guy in that draft.

Failed to trade #7 and Donyell for #4 to draft Wade.

    Aldridge for Tyrus.

    I still like Iggy.

Was #7 and Marshall for Wade on the table? I don't recall that. That would have been Grand Theft.

    Yes, it was.

But yay, we got to watch Kirk instead!

    http://articles.chicagotribune.com/...eneral-manager-john-paxson-bulls-miami-sports

With the draft selections of Kirk Hinrich, Ben Gordon and Luol Deng, general manager John Paxson, by most accounts, has proved himself to be a shrewd talent evaluator.

Giving his instincts even more legitimacy is the one who got away--Miami's Dwyane Wade.

Paxson nearly pulled the trigger on a June 2003 draft-day trade with Toronto that would have enabled the Bulls to move from the seventh to the fourth pick. Wade was Paxson's target.

    ...

Paxson didn't want to part with Donyell Marshall at the time, killing the deal.

Lu for Gasol. Didn't pull the trigger.
