They finally got Wilcox pretty much off the air and just gave Travis his own show. He can carry it, he's a really, really good one to listen to. Wilcox is literally the worst "sidekick" I have ever heard, while Suke is one of the best. Wilcox would literally say "Yeah. Good little team. They did stuff." And it's sad that that is pretty much word for word to about 80% of his answers. I like Danforth, Dirt, and Sprague. I also like the banter. It's more entertaining to me than sports talk, which can get really boring and monotonous. Issac and Suke and those three do a really good job at having banter mixed in with sports talk.
7 is a good time slot for most of the year. College kids coming home after work and class, after games and such. I like listening to him, and he'll do good wherever he goes at whatever time.
My comment was about me. I'm bummed because I rarely listed to sports talk radio at that time. I listen to Dan Patrick on my way to work and at work... then a combo of Rome and SVP... then the mid day show on The Fan... then Ropp and Suke on my way home. Dont listen much at all after that.
I liked listening to Travis, but couldn't stand Wilcox. Seemed like a nice enough guy, lots of connections, just never added anything. I don't quite understand the move though. My personal preference is more sports, and less 'guy talk', but I can handle the entertainment side of things. When I listen to Danforth, Dirt, and Sprague, they don't seem to have any perspective at all, and they have no life experience. 3 guys, all around the same age, and don't really have anything much to add. I think they may alienate a lot of people, especially 35+ (including myself). Plus they all sound the same, and don't really sound ready for a prime slot. I'm sure they will rate just fine though. I've heard a little bit of Travis's new evening show, and he sounds like a completely different host without Wilcox, in a good way. I'm not in the car much in the evening, but it's a good spot. I like 750's NBC show at the same time, so it's nice to have some variety.
I agree. I think they should have kept Travis in the early afternoon where I assume the audience is older... and kept the DDS crew at their evening time slot where their guy talk fits the audience and time better.
Just stumbled across this thread... Words can't express how happy I am that Travis & Wilcox are off the air. Didn't have the chance to listen to Danforth, Dirt & Sprague much when they were at night, but have grown to absolutely love their show. At first thought they sounded too young (with the music, clips, ect...) but the more I listen the more I like. There's no doubt they'll dominate Canzano, think they can give Primetime a run for their money as the best show in the market.
