His measurables are on par with Kevin Love, Boozer, David Lee, Sullinger, Glen Davis, Tristan Thompson, etc. Wingspan and standing reach are a shade better than Blake Griffin. Going off the eye test, hes much more explosive than those guys (minus Griffin obviously) as far as being able to power through contact and getting off the floor quickly. Those guys are all suspect defensive players, but they're doing just fine in the league. People still have this idea that NBA PFs should be 6'10-7'0 but that just hasn't been the case for several years. Most of them these days are 6'9ish, give or take an inch or two.
And they all struggle mightily on defense. The most important bigman measurement is the standing-reach. All of those guys are sub 9'0"
Fuck! I knew as soon as I started talking about him on here his stock would rise. Where are you reading this?
Ford, Sheridan and Amico. You're going to have to sell some team in the top-10 on Batum to get high enough.
I think they need one anyway. Thomas should be instant offense off the bench in the Dallas JJ Barea role.
In your previous post you were comparing him to Z-Bo, who was a horrible defender for most of his career. You also were saying it was his wingspan that was the difference. Now you're all about standing reach. Even if Randle is a crappy defender, hes better than all those guys were at the same age, except Love. Hes as big as all of them and stronger than all of them while being just as athletic as they are. You seem to suggest that he won't be able to stick in the league. I think even if he half assed it he could be a hollow stats 20-10 guy like those guys are. And thats not a bad pick in the mid-late lotto, especially if he's a unique offensive force. But if he lands in the right spot and works hard I think he's got potential to be a top 5 PF in the league.
Mike Moser might be a good training camp/ summer league invite. Always liked his game. http://www.oregonlive.com/ducks/index.ssf/2014/06/former_oregon_duck_mike_moser.html#incart_m-rpt-2
I dont see him as an AS but someone who becomes really good and is talked about maybe getting on the team but never really makes it. kinda like Millsap was before this year. Sent from my SM-G900P using Tapatalk
He's more of a power-player than Milsap. He reminds me of Zachary but not the Zach that we drafted really raw but a little later in his career, more refined Randolph.
Interesting stuff from Alex Kennedy: http://www.basketballinsiders.com/nba-pm-whos-draft-stock-is-on-the-rise/
This is one of those drafts where you really need to find a way to get a pick in the 1st. Good players are going to slip into the 20's, possibly guys that could be great. W
I agree -- there's going to be a lot of talent falling into the 20's and 30's. A major sleeper that I know San Antonio has their eye on is still under the radar: Nikola Jokic. Legit center size: 6'11" | 253 lbs. | 9'3" reach Fundamentally sound, solid jumper and only 19 years old. Really is the epitome of a Spurs stash-n-dash. https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=xyxoJbtk4Ro
@chadfordinsider: Lakers have been trying, unsuccessfully, to get Doug McDermott in for a second workout. Interesting >>>>>>>>> Did the Celtics or Jazz promise Doug their slot?
