Unless Kobe has a major breakdown after this knee surgery and is never the same again, then of course it will easily be him. He's simply the better overall player and just look at the rings...
When they both retire, Kobe will be better because he will be a few years younger then an old Iverson...But really I think it will be Kobe regardless. The 3 rings have a lot to do with that. It could just be bad luck, but whatever. Kobe was better when he started to let himself known as a staple for the Lakers. Both are great scorers, but I think Kobe has the edge. Defense goes to Kobe as well. He's more physically gifted and proven to be deadly at any moment. And if any of the 2 were to win a (or another for that matter) championship by the end of their careers, it'd be Kobe.
kobe. its easier as a sg though. AI is great, but kobe has rings. in the end, that is all that matters.
Battle of the ball hogs. lol. I would have to give Kobe the win on this though. Kobe is bigger and a better defender.
I'll give it to Kobe here as well... I love Iverson, how he's consistant and he doesn't puss out with injuries, etc. but Kobe's got the Championships and is overall a better player.
Kobe over Iverson no doubt. Kobe is a much better defender and rebounder and still can score with the same regularity has Iverson. In fact, Kobe's probably a more efficient scorer than Iverson, as AI has shot 42% FG, 31% 3PM, and 77% FT for his career, while Kobe has shot 45%, 33%, and 83% respectively.
Well I want to say Iverson because I think he can take over a game himself...but so can Kobe and Kobe brings more to the table aswell in terms of passing/rebounding/leadership and motivation.

Kobe brings more because of his height, rebounding, shooting ability, a more versatile scorer and definately better defense. As far as pure god given talent, athleticism and skill, I truly believe that Kobe Bryant is anyones equal in the history of the NBA. However, to say that he brings more to the table because of his passing and leadership would be the wrong things to say. Iverson has proven to be a better and more willing passer than Kobe Bryant is. Also, you can use those three rings to say Kobe Bryant is better. Well he got those three rings with Shaq on his team. Allen Iverson was able to carry a team to the NBA finals, humping almost the entire scoring load on his back. That is something, that I personally have not seen another player do in my life. Everyone has had a very good secondary person on that team to help take pressure off of them, to go to the finals with. Michael Jordan had Pippen, Gary Payton had Shawn Kemp, Karl Malone had John Stockton, Shaq had Kobe Braynt, Penny Hardaway, and Dwayne Wade in the finals he has been to. Duncan had Parker and Ginobili on his recent teams, and a younger healthier David Robinson on the first team that he went to the finals with. As you can see, Iverson is one of the first players in a long time to take a team to the finals by himself. So I really think that leadership is in Allen Iversons corner.

Now, using the percentages since Shaq left the Lakers is a different story...I also agree 100% with valo's post, and I think he summed the entire argument up accurately.

And Iverson may have carried a lot of the scoring (31.1 pts a game) but that squad was also 2nd in offensive rebounding, 9th in defensive rebounding, 3rd in allowing opponents to the free throw line, 7th in defensive FG rating, and 8th in forcing turnovers. Iverson definitely didn't cause all that. I'm not saying that they would have made it without AI, but to give AI ALL the credit for his team getting to the Finals disrespects that whole team.

Defensively he did his part, but the rest of the guys were scrappy, hard-nosed veterans who loved/didn't mind doing the dirty work. Everything just clicked for us that year, and if it wasn't for a guy named Shaq we would have won the championship that year.
Kobe's a silent leader in that he's oncourt demeanor sets the tone for the team. Now however, he is actually become a total floor manager. He's yelling out instructions and seems much more vocal. And unlike Ai, kobe cares about practice (lame).

Hell, it's gotten to the point where the coaching staff has been relentlessly praising Iverson for his practice habits the past few years...As far as people saying Kobe isn't a leader, and that he doesn't care about his teammates, etc., you seriously need to watch the Lakers play. Hell, Kobe was there for Odom this past summer through all the crap Odom had to go through. Kobe is more of a leader than a lot of people give him credit for. Yelling at your teammates and firing them up verbally isn't the only sign of leadership.
Ah this is harder then some think, and 5:40 am I will be fast.Iverson Better In:1. Career points per game AI 28.1 (Kobe I think 24 and I know Kobe was playing with Shaq)2. Assists 6.2 per game I think it's better though well last few year he done way better (Kobe 4.5)3. Steals 2.3 per game (Kobe 1.5)Kobe Better In:1. Rebounds 5.1 (But not sure if we should count that cause of the size and all) Iverson still 3.9 only 1.2 reb per game more and there is 6 inch deff with the 2 Hmm ???2. Deffense (Clearly Kobe AI does play passing lanes well)3. Shooting % (But again he had Shaq ect AI could not get guys of him if he payed them cause of the lack of talent around him) LOLBut Yeah Kobe is better, but some of you make it out like there is no comparing that should be done at all. And yes I know Kobe has 3 rings, but that is a team thing. If AI was with Shaq instead of Kobe I am sure AI would have the same 3 maybe they would even win that other year they would have won when Kobe, and Shaq did not get along they lost.
