It always struck me as odd, no, dumb! Portland goes to great expense to pipe in water from mountain streams miles away because it poops in the local creek. http://www.ccrh.org/comm/slough/primary/group.htm The CO2 from these plants really count, magnitude 8 on the Olfactory scale. http://www.oregonlive.com/portland/index.ssf/2012/02/river_of_sewage_flows_from_sel.html
You are kind of hilarious sometimes. Maybe you should google 'Big Pipe' sometime and consider whether those links are newer than your 'news' from 1991. And of course your second link contradicts your first anyway. And, um, great expense??? It's called gravity, and it's free. Water flows downhill from Bull Run. barfo
No contradiction, years ago, it was a problem and you're still pooping in the river. Can you dirink the water? No! I hear the DEQ (or is it the EPA) is going to make you cover all those reservoirs. Dang! That will be an expense.
And does Bandon have a sewer plant, or do you just shit in the ocean? Do you go down to the river when you get thirsty and lap it up? I'm not sure I understand your point. Are you saying Portland shouldn't treat sewage? Or that we should treat more sewage? Or that we should just collect rainwater and drink that? Or what? Yes, it costs money to provide water and sewer service to a city the size of Portland. Is that news to you? barfo
I just wanted to point out you have abundant water running right through town. People use to drink it until some dip stick started pooping in it. Kind a weird to continue. I get my water from the ground and put it back again. Bandon gets it's water from a creek that runs through town. Treats the water and puts it in the bay. It's salt water, hard to drink that, but it doesn't hurt the crabs. Yes they are edible.
Ah, thanks for the heads up. I wondered what all those bridges were for. Yeah, in the 1830s, maybe. Portland was quite slow to get sewage treatment. 1952? That's kind of shocking, I agree. But it's been many years since then and things continue to get cleaner. No, I wouldn't drink out of the river in town. But then I wouldn't drink out of the river in any town this size. And how many people are there in Bandon? You let me know whether you can still use the creek in town when there are a million people in Bandon. But if we are just comparing city-penises, I guess I could point out that I have two 24 hour full-service hospitals within 10 minutes of my house. How far do you have to drive for medical care? And do they draw blood after 3pm once you get there? barfo
