What the Rangers appear to be offering Anton Stralman

I dont think it happens either but it was just an idea. We got the reigning Art Ross winner for a rental and two picks because he wanted to come here and here only. Obviously that was different because MSL wanted out of TB and there's no indication that Thornton is asking out of SJ just yet, but anything can happen.

 

Really don't want to lose Strolman. Top 4 D-man for sure. Sather somehow has to make this work or we are weakened for sure without him. Mcilrath is a huge question mark. Skating ability is suspect.

 

I would rather have Callahan and 2 #1s then Kristo and Klein.

Well yeah so would I, but in reality it would be Callahan for 2 months and 2 #1's (which at the time was a 1 and 2), compared to Kristo, Klein and a pick, probably a #2. I dont think that's an outrageous comparison at all.

Fuck it I'm not gonna try to defend some random trade idea I just threw out there for discussion. I'm an idiot and our prospects all suck. Lets move on.

 

According to Brooks article today, they aren't going to go after another center. Wow, that would be the dumbest thing. They have enough to sign most of these guys w/o Richards free money. The extra should go towards a #1.

I wouldn't gut the prospects we do have for Thornton I don't think, that's why I'd do my best to get Stastny, even if it costs a few extra hundred g's.

 

Here is the thing about prospect, most organizations have them. If Kristo was any good he would be untouchable and brought up.

Brooks is lost on that one IMO. We have to go after a # 1 C.

And while the Stastny deal will be over the top and he will be overpaid at 6 or 7 years and 7 or so per cap hit wise, the one plus he has is he costs us no players. We can slot him in with Brass and Stepan and look pretty deep at C. And he would take Richards money really, so we should be able to make it work.

The issue I have with Stastny is does he really give us a # 1 C and put us over the top OR is he just a little better # 2 C than Stepan is, and his contract would be huge.

I would do it if I thought Stastny was the last piece to get us the cup, but I am not sure he is good enough to do that for us as a higher end # 2 C. Plus he doesn't really add the size we need. I think the C we get needs to have some size and grit to him. And I also want to add a bigger physical dman to round out the top 4 over Stralman at 4 mill per, which I think is too much.

 

McIlrath WILL NOT MAKE TEAM in 2014-15.
I saw him in Hartford on 6 different occasions. For a big guy,
he does not take the body in front of his goalie. Does not play
a north-south game. Very tentative with the puck. No leg speed.
HOW IN H_ _ _ DID SATHER PICK HIM SO HIGH? At best,
he's a project. Really annoyed with the pick.
Wow. Were we sold that this kid was the next coming of
Beukeboom/Beck. No way.

Rangers real need is #1 C. There is nothing in the organization.
Prospects who may help next year: C Oscar Lindberg. Maybe,
D Conor Allen. Don't see anyone else on Hartford roster.
Best prospects are in college and Europe.

amazing match against Portugal. Shocking ending. Nothing ever comes easy in sports. And Mcilrath is a question mark, because of his slow foot speed which is very problematic in the NHL circa 2014

 

Would have been nice if Bradley turned and kicked the ball 10 rows into the stands instead of a weak TO which gave Portugal the chance to get one more run in open field with guys trying to get back. That was frustrating. BUT tie Germany or get a Portugal win over over Ghana and we are through (assuming we don't get whipped by Germany since we are + 5 on Portugal goal differential wise).

And I agree on McIlrath. Obviously no one can say bust or not yet, but there no way anyone can count him as a given for this season considering where he is at and what he has shown thus far. At best right now he is a question mark. Hopefully he will be ready in October.

 

McIlrath can't be any slower than the slothlike, talentless, overpaid Klein, leadskate Girardi or the incredible cringing Anton. I saw big Mac play 2 NHL games last year and thought he was as good as any dman not named Ryan McDonagh. This big Mac hate reminds me of the same uninformed posts on Kreider's readiness, CK should have been up from the get go. I'll take Beuk's opinion as confirmation, the guy should be up as should Miller. If Glen drafted Sidney Crosby they would keep him in the AHL for 4 years to develop mediocrity. Stralman can find another team foolish enough to pay him $4 mil, the Rangers won't miss his one goal and weak crease play, give the 1st rounder a chance to fail.

Kristo is an unsigned RFA at this time so any deal would involve resigning him first. I don't think it's that far fetched to look to youth first rather than overpaying at center.

 

Fuck you Ronaldo you prissy. God so many similarities to a rod. What a game sad that we gave up a goal in overtime...boy does that sound familiar.

McIlrath wasn't great in the preseason games he played in and clearly needed to spend the year in the minors. The jury is still out but this is a pivotal year for him. Klein helped solidify things defensively and was a solid trade for DelDopo. He's the type of guy you need in the 3m range on D.

 

I also saw him in Hartford last season, twice. His lack of speed is VERY apparent, even at the AHL level, not sure this guy is going to make it at the NHL level. We definitely need to see though, sooner rather than later, so I say we give him a shot this season and see if he becomes the traffic cone that it looks like he will become. I def respect Beuk's opinion, I only saw him twice, but I just don't see this guy making it, other than maybe as a 7th D-man we dress for certain physical games with limited minutes.

Hope I am wrong, but he seems to be really slow...
