Re: NBA trade rumors Olshey shocks the world and signs Melo! (after dumping salary) That's my own rumor
Re: NBA trade rumors Didn't they turn down the OKC offer of their first rounder this year for shumpert at the trade deadline?
Re: NBA trade rumors And that's likely the pick they're going to get in return for Shump. Shump's knee must be worse than anyone thinks or the price of first rounders is absurd.
Re: NBA trade rumors He has also regressed every year since his rookie year. His D also slipped last year.
Re: NBA trade rumors Geez! That seems like a joke. Thompson for Love? Warrior don't get better on that deal.
Re: NBA trade rumors Frye on defense would be fine next to Robinson, and passable next to Aldridge. He's actually a decent post man defender and boxes out well, it's just when he has to step out at all he's a step slow AND he's not a good help defender. Robinson and Aldridge are both good defenders against 4's and can jump out on the pick n roll. Frye would not play well on defense next to Lopez. Even though it would fit well on offense. Basically, Frye would be a great b/u to Lopez for about 20 mpg. This time would be split between playing w/Aldridge and Robinson. Either way, he'd be on the outside setting perimeter picks for Lillard (or whoever), which he is top 5 in the NBA at, while the other plays a pick n roll in the mid-range or gets their ass in the post. He would fit like a glove next to Robinson. On defense, he'd simply defend the bigger post guy while the other played some help defense (which Robinson is great at). I still think it'd be good to grab Kaman, O'neal, or Turiaf, if they understand that they're simply insurance for if Lopez goes down b/c we still need a "true" C next to Aldridge for 15 or 20 mpg.
Re: NBA trade rumors I like Kamen but he's basically done. He'd have to be our Meyers-role replacement. I like Frye because he's a smart player with a three point shot. Spencer Hawes ain't walking through that door.
Re: NBA trade rumors Pretty much. And Frye loves Portland. He would listen if we called. My guess is 3 years 15 million would get it done. Which is the going rate for useful backup bigs Another option could be big baby Davis
Re: NBA trade rumors Big Baby was surprisingly decent in the playoffs, wasn't he? And he'd come just for the food carts!
Re: NBA trade rumors but lousy the entire yr, no thx on him, what I like about Jordan Hill is that he will likely cost less than the full MLE, he improved last yr when given good consistent minutes, is still young at 25 and averaged 9.7 PPG (54.9% FG%) and 7.4 rebs in only 20.8 minutes. He's a solid defender as well and a PF/C which IMO would be very nice to have and he can still improve. IMO he is the best (MLE $$ or les)s big available for us for several reasons
Re: NBA trade rumors Not a trade rumor more FA but ... Aaron J. Lopez @AaronLopez Key reserves @DarrellArthur00 and @nate_robinson exercise options for 2014-15. Good news for #Nuggets bench. Any interest in either?
Re: NBA trade rumors I can get on board with hill. But you are easily writing off talented guys in Frye or Davis. Do the spurs look at belinelli and write him off after a bad year (Davis, Frye did not have a bad year). No. The spurs realize he is a fit in the system they have and belinelli has a fantastic season for them. Frye sucked when he was here because nate was the worst coach possible for him. Stotts and Frye is a great fit. Also I mention big baby because he might be cheaper based on last year. We know the guy is talented, he had an off year, but could easily return to form on a friendly contract.
Re: NBA trade rumors Frye wouldn't be bad, but the problem I have with him is that he essentially plays the role of a wing, not a big. The team rebounding really suffer when he's in, unless you play him at small forward. He only shot 43% fg last year, and 5.1 rpg. Some available free agents that have better rebounding and fg% numbers: Andray Blatche, Jordan Hill, Jason Smith, Kris Humphries, and Jeff Adrien.
Re: NBA trade rumors Re: Channing Frye I think he would be a great get, and this from somebody who thinks our defense needs improvement (i.e., somebody who's not blind). It's abundantly clear that in today's NBA you have to have shooters at practically every position. This is why a teams with a so-so distributors but great shooters (Curry, Lillard) do better than teams with PGs who can't shoot but can do everything else (Rondo, Rubio). Last year was the year of the shooter: turns out Channing Frye had the best +/- per minute of any Suns player. And he's not nothing on defense - he's actually smart and quite active.
Re: NBA trade rumors Joe Kotoch: Cavs will reach out to Minnesota about Love but not willing to include 1st pick or Irving. If true, doesn't look like LA would get the Blazers a #1 pick
