Why? I think that team would be a cluster fuck. Melo is going to want the ball. He doesn't play defense. Wade is going to be another year older.
Meanwhile, Timmah will be leaning back in his beach chair until May, sipping margaritas and watching the Spurs bench tear up the league while he plays 18 minutes a game as a starter.
Re: NBA trade rumors Have you forgotten that that team was anything but a fiasco? Sure, Payton didn't fit the Triangle Offense particularly well, but that team was heavy favorites to win the title before Malone went down with injury. And your Miami example isn't much better. LeBron and Wade were about as redundant as any two star players can be. They struggled with identifying their roles on the team as a result, and eventually the face of the franchise had to become second fiddle to make it work. All you did was illustrate that when you collect that much uber-talent, the result is pretty good when everyone is healthy.
Re: NBA trade rumors Dude, I think if you read his post again, you'll see he's making the same point you are.
Nick Young is available. http://espn.go.com/blog/los-angeles...8/nick-young-opts-out-of-contract-with-lakers EDIT: I mean, who *doesn't* want a player with a 107 ORtg and a 114 DRtg?!
Re: Official FA Rumors Thread The Philadelphia 76ers, Orlando Magic and Utah Jazz have all offered their high lottery picks plus a veteran to move up to No. 1 in a deal with the Cleveland Cavaliers. The Cavaliers aren't enamored by offers from the 76ers (Thad Young and the No. 3 pick) and Jazz (Derrick Favors and the No. 5 pick). But the Magic offer of Arron Afflalo, along with the No. 4 and No. 12 pick is attractive to the Cavaliers. The Cavaliers have strong interest in signing LeBron James and acquiring Afflalo would be seen as a strong move.
Re: Official FA Rumors Thread Not a bad idea if they still want Embiid, just not at #1. They figure he will still be there at #4. Then another good player at #12. They get the player they wanted originally plus an extra lottery pick. They just have to wait an extra year for Embiid and hope he gets healthy. A bit of a gamble. Hard to say if it is smart based on their track record. Apparently they do not love Wiggins. James should not be a factor since he can play PF if they get a good young SF. The older he gets, the more PF I think he will play.
Re: Official FA Rumors Thread He's due 15 million his final season. His cap hit is less, but whatever team trades for him is paying him superstar money for average performance. I just don't see it.
Re: Official FA Rumors Thread Maybe not, who knows. But teams have taken n dead weight players for small-ish incentive in the past. The incentive with adding Asik is you'd acquire a starting level C, and not a dead weight contract.
Re: Official FA Rumors Thread It's only a year though. If you have the cap space and if you need a starting center and if you think you can resign him after the season.........lot of ifs, but not a huge gamble.
I am a little worried about the Clippers getting LeBron. http://www.latimes.com/sports/sportsnow/la-sp-sn-clippers-lebron-james-20140624-story.html I think a sign and trade to the Clippers for Griffin makes sense. Isn't Lebron friends with Cp3? Does he like Doc Rivers? His wife likes LA, she would prefer him playing for the Clips instead of the Lakers......I can see this happening. The only good thing about it is it would bury the Lakers in LA. Their fans would be shell shocked.
CP3 is just busted enough that it tips the "OH CRAP THE CLIPS ARE TOO GOOD"/"HAHAHAHA FUCK THE LAKERS!" see saw towards the latter.
Re: Official FA Rumors Thread 15 million for a borderline starter is pretty rich. For most teams with significant cap, this will cut into their operating costs far too much without any real value. I think Houston will have to eat some salary back in any trade scenario. The only team that might be crazy enough is the Lakers if they find a way to land a player like Melo and think they need to add a real center to the roster quickly.
Clipps w/o Griffin are pretty average. Adding LeBron puts them closer to the Thunder than the Spurs. LeBron would be crazy to leave the soft East and actually have to play with effort every night in the West.
I was thinking the same thing; no way he gives up the Get To The Finals Free card of playing in the Leastern Conference.
The Clips were about the same as OKC this year and LeBron is much better than Griffin. Their BB IQ goes way up. Plus I think you are underestimating the Pied Piper effect LeBron has. All they would be missing is another big to back up Jordon and Davis. Good Vets would flock to LA to play with LeBron and Cp3. Much more than Griffin. CP3, Collison JJredick, Crawford, Green LeBron, Bullock, Turk, Granger Glen Davis Jordan, Hollins
These guys aren't usually wired that way. They want to play the best night in and night out to prove themselves
Re: Official FA Rumors Thread His cap hit is only like 8.5 million if you can acquire him for a second round pick or two it is a great deal for your franchise. Plus if he does not work out his cap figure makes him a very valuable trade asset at the deadline.
Which us why LeBron wanted to surround himself with great players, to increase his challenge. Fuck that. They want to win. Proving themselves is just a story they tell themselves as they count their money. I'll be very surprised if James goes west.
