Kevin Martin is playing incredible basketball! Wow. He caught my eye at the end of the 04-05 season, but I never thought he'd turn out this good. I always thought he'd be a solid player off the bench, but wow. He's blossomed into a very good scorer, he's improved his entire game (especially defensively), and he has been a huge surprise. His numbers through 6 games this season 23.8 ppg 4.8 rpg 2.0 apg 1.8 spg 55% FG 93% FT (41-44) I know it's just 6 games, and I know these are just stats. But he's really established himself as a starting SG in this league, and a pretty good one. I love that it's only his 3rd year, and he's going to keep improving his game. He has a funky/different looking shot as well, but hell he can shoot the ball and he can also drive to the hoop. I am loving what I'm seeing from Martin.
It all started last season in the playoffs when he got that game winning lay-up in game 3. From there I guess he feels unstoppable and as far as I can tell he is for the moment. Don't know how much longer he can keep it up but he's been playing great so far.
Watching Kevin Martin's games, the thing I like most about him, is how good of a shot selection he has. Kevin Martin doesn't take many bad shots with people waving hands in his face, or when he's trapped like some of the star players in the league do. I also like how he gets his points without really ruining the flow of the offense, unlike Ron Artest who will sometimes take bad shots and kind of ruin offense.
He's an interesting player, very smooth, the game I watched on ESPN when the kings played the pistons he played really well. He's got a great running jumper. Hopefully he'll be the Kings new gem.
It started way before last year. He always put forth a good effort and he always had something going for him.
I was about to post a topic on this guy. He's just an amazing scorer. He's now scoring 24.1 ppg, just shy of the top 10 I believe. That's incredible for a guard out of east carolina. I doubt sacto knew they would get this out of him when they drafted him.
HAHA I was going to also about how underrated he is but I saw this. Yeah martin is definetly the most underrated scorer in the NBA. he's averaging about 24 a game and a lot of people have never even heard of him. The guy is so underrated it's unbelievable. Plus he's shooting 52% from the field, 41% from beyond the arc, 93% from the line, averages 5 rpg, and 2 spg so he isn't even just a scorer like most people think.
Yeah its too bad he is gonna be ignored for a few years. I think he can plateau at a Reggie Miller type.
