1:22PM: The Rangers are “very interested” in Boyle especially with Anton Stralman being a UFA. (ESPN)

He's coming Chuck. He will be Strahlman's replacement

He's going to want 5 mill per +/- for two years. He is a right handed shot though, and a good PP guy, which we need badly. He'll be something we haven't had in a long time. Him and McD on the PP points would be nice.

I actually like him better than Stralman, so I could get on board, but I bet a bunch of teams are interested in him.

38 and a - 8 last season doesn't look great. Step up on O, step down on D.

    We need a C.

I personally don't want him. Too much of a defensive liability and too old. A great pp is not a necessity to win a cup. We've seen this so many times over the past 5 years. McD coming into his own will give us a decent pp. Our biggest need is a top center. Spending 5 mil on a dman will probably kill any chance of that.

Yeah, if they can't fit Stralman, how are they going to fit a 5-6m player and also get a C? It would be nice though.

I bet Boyle only gets $4-4.5m, I could be wrong. Sounds like they were going to offer $4m to Strahlman on a longer term deal. I think I would rather have Boyle at 2 years/$8m than Strahlman at 4-5 year term. Boyle isnt great defensively but I dont think he is bad and he can really help the PP.

You dont need a great PP to win but you need a shot from the point. All the teams have had it, look at the Kings vs us they scored a ton of goals of shots from the point directly or on rebounds.

5:32PM: Boyle would be open to returning to Tampa Bay if the Lightning had interest. (TampaBay.com)

4:55PM 8 teams have reached out to Boyle and meetings will start tomorrow. (Darren Dreger)

The talks between Anton Stralman and the Rangers are “not going as expected.” (Renaud Lavoie)

Lavoie wonders if things will change over the next few days.

It’s been reported that the Rangers have allotted around $4 million per year for Stralman on a 3-4 year deal.

Makes me think they will add a vet dman/keep Stralman for around 4 or so per season. Maybe they can get Boyle for two years and 8.5 mill or so.

We'll see. But I agree Dis and rather sign Boyle for the ballpark same amont of money than Stralman for an extra year or two.

BTW...why the hell would the Flyers want Boyle? How many older not great defensive dmen do they want.

Sounds like we may be in his top 5, but TB may be # 1. They just cleared cap space as we know.

I still think he gets 4.5 or more, maybe closer to 5 per for two years.
